Those are some real nice looking irons. Kudos to Callaway for a new spin on an old blade.

Has Phil gone back to his Yonex blade putter (or something similar)? I saw highlights of his 4-putt disaster hole on SportsCentre and it didn't look anything like an Odyssey #9

He rotates between the #9 and an 8802 style Odyssey.  He's not averse to changing putters mid-tournament, so he may very well have the #9 in the bag today for the second round.

I find it quite odd Phil's using a low lofted driver and a higher launching shaft. I thought high loft, low launch shaft was the done thing nowadays....

Those Cally blades do look gorgeous though!

Suprised he is using the Diablo, possibly the worst looking club design ever, even the N version looks really hooked, anyone know if it is a tour version that sets more square?

I agree, the Diablo looks heinous, but it is impossibly easy to hit off of the deck- period. I had a Diablo driver and I would use it for 2nd shots on par 5s - driver, driver to get there and I was shocked how easy it was! The three would must be even easier to hit since thats what it was designed to do.

Give the fairway a try, I think I will.

I would guess this has to do with the fact that he really likes to work the golf ball.  A 7.5 with a high launching shaft is easier to move than say a 10.5 with a low launching shaft.

Again, dont know but that would be my guess.

Anyone know if Phil is still playing the Satin Project X or has he caved and gone with the newer True Temper Chrome Version?

I remember reading that he acquired 12 sets of the satin finish after the buyout and was quoted saying the chrome are not the same.

Every time I stumble upon this thread one thing always comes to mind.

"Man, look at all that lead tape".

Which then makes me think of another heated topic of a few months ago debating the effectiveness of lead tape.

Thanks for another update  (Keep them coming), appreciated

The trend for drivers in the last few years seems to revolve around 'more loft',but if you look at some of the numbers from these guys, even then some have very low launch angles.

Anyway - very unusual to see someone with a 7.5 degree driver. He must be 'out there on his own' with that loft.Hell, ive hardly seen anyone with 8.5 let alone 7.5 on Tour. He's certainly a pioneer not a sheep with his equipment choices......

His wedge options seem strange to me, because I thought I remember him having strong lofts (eg. a PW of 45 degrees) on all his irons, which would explain the potential non-gap between his 5 iron and 22 degree hybrid.  Unless he's reverted to different, more staggered lofts, there would be a large gap between 45 and 56 degrees...

Even a gap between 48 and 56 would seem like a big yardage gap.  Dave Pelz must have scientific data that shows Phil hardly ever ends up with a particiular yardage...
