I'm putting a new shaft in my 3 wood (thanks to golfwrx and Joe Kwok  :vava: ) but I'm having a hard time deciding on which one.  I have previously played a 757 X, untipped and have gotten along really well with it.  This time around I thought about trying the 869 X, but I'm curious if it really launches higher and spins more than the 757?

For reference I swing a driver approx 115mph with a medium tempo.  I'm 6'2", 230lbs have a nice wide arc and hit the ball on a mid trac with mid spin.  I'm playing a 771TA stiff, tipped 1" in the driver, X-100's in my irons...  and basically looking for something that will mesh well with these for my 3 wood shaft, that is made by Fuji USA.

What do you think?  :D

I hate the 757..but it actually plays very very well in the 3wood.. the 869 is a great fairway wood shaft as well, but it will launch a little higher and spin slightly more then a 757. Both I think have the same torque rating but no question the 869 is softer tipped...

I guess it all depends on what you want in a 3w..I like to get the ball high and spin..so for years I played a 869 in my 970.. I've gone away from that a little bit and switched to a PM902 for the fusion.

The 757 is one of my all time favorite shafts  :D   Different strokes I guess...  I like to hit a high soft 3 wood as well and the 757 was pretty good for that.  By my estimation, if I pick up just a little height and a little spin with the 869 I will be spot on...  but if I pick up alot of either or both I'm going to be in trouble.

Have you had any experience with tipping the 869?  If I tip an X 1/2" or 1" will it move it towards the 757X untipped in terms of performance?  And thanks for the help thus far  :vava:

my 869 was an X untipped..but it a 970 it's like playing a borethur since the tip insertion is pretty deep...you swing about 5 mph more then me though...I you like the 757,I'd stick with that.
