Loose impediments are natural objects that are not growing or fixed -- such as leaves, twigs, branches, worms and insects. You may remove a loose impediment except when your ball and the loose impediment lie in a bunker or water hazard.

I saw that too. What did she pick up is the question. If it was say a piece of plastic litter she is OK but a natural piece of dirt or a stick is not OK. I'm surprised we have not heard if she was asked to explain.
I heard the commentators say that LET has some bunker policy about being able to remove rocks or twigs? Not sure what I heard but it was discussed.
I thought I saw Sofie walk all over her putting line during the play off. Did anyone see that?

I think Evian is under LET rules, not the PGA Rules.

The commentators clearly stated that removing the rock from the bunker was within the LET rules for this event.....I think some need to pay a little better attention....
many committees will allow the picking up of rocks out of bunkers in order to prevent the possibility of an injury should the rock come shooting out and hitting someone.
There are times when USGA Tournament rules cannot be met to the letter,
due to conditions of play that affect fairness or safety. The Tournament committe
through the ruling orginization (PGA,LPGA,LET, etc.) can petition the USGA for relief.
The LET has a rule that has been approved, that allows the removal of stones or rocks from a bunker.
The LPGA has this rule for selected events. Thus jointly, the LET & LPGA approved it
for this event, so the young Lady was well within her rights.
By the way, nice win Ai.
I have always liked Ai Miyazato. She has a certain spark. She is listed as 5'2" but on TV she looks a lot smaller. Still, she is slightly above average length driver. Her slow syrupy swing is nice to watch.
