You will care if this (great) site turns into something as informative as the Golftest or Rankmark.

I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill. If you don't like the advertising, then join ClubWRX and help pay the bills.

We will be adding many more features and I think users will be extremely surprised over the next few weeks and months as the GolfWRX world expands. There have been hints on some of those features over the past few months so, if you are an avid follower, you maybe clued in.
The Front page is under heavy development and will be worked on through the weekend and through week. We have made the changes now to a live environment so that we can start finishing the core functionality and then seeing what we need to do graphically and based on user opinion on appearance.

Mountains have all started somewhere... it is not the advertising that bothers me, but I have had one of the founders of Tour Edge say to me "how much do we have to advertise in Golf Magazine before we get a good reviewin the Clubtest!?" I have seen what moderation leads to once one is on the take. I'm hoping the site does not lose what has brought it its popularity to begin with - honest opinions, that may sometimes hurt.

Read the Cameron Classic Mini thread if you think that they are even close to stopping honest opinions. I think the moderation is beyond fair when it comes to allowing topics that bash equipment and write honest reviews. I have never seen a thread locked because somebody said "the Ping G10 is a terrible driver because I slice it".

Seriously, look one post up from each of your last few. I was OBVIOUSLY joking. I thought the "mods demanding compensation" part was particularly transparent. But then I state as much. And all the explanation you could hope for was in Gx's post right above yours. Shoot, the URL on the front page should have been clue enough that it wasn't a store front (hint: you're looking for the word "review"). And mountains do have their own beginnings, but moles aren't one of them.

I think we'll all get used to the new WRX soon, until the next morph and it starts all over again!
PS: A little too much TM on the front page though! I hope they are paying good $$$$

this whole thing could have ended in one post with the right info... a not acting like the question was below a proper answer... even though the op original question was without really looking at the new home page but more of a glance imo...

Your post came 8 hours after he said it was all a joke. People's problems are they don't read the whole thread. Anyone around here more than a week should know Beruo's replies will be sarcastic and/or funny

Whether any believe the above post or not, this is the exact reason I like being a moderator at GolfWRX. We have the best golfing web site going, and my aim is to do my best to help keep it that way.

Yeah, me too. Once I discovered the forums had pretty much everything I needed, I just kept them bookmarked. Now that I've looked at the new front page, I really like it. It seems a lot cleaner, more organized, and, honestly, much more interesting. I might actually have to start looking there more often

Same here, I forgot what the old page looks like as I've got the main forum index bookmarked in my toolbar. Some people never like seeing any new changes while others don't mind seeing new changes. Changes can be good to keep anything up to date.
Also I find it funny that majority of people here and elsewhere do not read rest of the thread before posting their replies to 1st post they read. Just read the rest of the thread before posting your replies, I do.
BTW, thought new front page looks good and functional.

There was no question. Just jumping to conclusions on your part. Jumping to conclusions without facts is much more likely to promote misinfomation than sarcasm.

Posts like this worry me more than a home page change. If nobody is allowed to make a joke or be a little sarcastic then we have a problem. Beruo's humor is priceless IMO, and I would be bummed if he answered every post like a robot with no humor.

http://forums.golfwrx.com
is the direct link to the forums here now.
There is also some links on the front page that will take you here. As functionality returns, these things will become more transparent.
Instead of tracking responses in 2 or 3 threads, please provide feedback here. Eventually it will be moved to the website section but, this is kinda of a major change.

We will never allow the $ to get in the way of honest opinions and a freedom to voice is. We need to trust a source. Our membership will decide what is good or bad. The review site is a great step for us. Our reviews were organized in a community engine and hard to navigate. If I wanted to see...
- Drivers rated highest to lowest by users
- drivers most viewed in the last 60 days
- drivers most viewed in the last year
- drivers priced between $295 and 425
- Drivers by Titleist, Ping or you favorite brand only
