Was that not one of the, if not the worst shot you ever seen him hit on 10? Terrible

Really bad. And the way hes playing makes me worry that he is not going to make birdies. But then again, he does always surprise me.

Of course he has proved he can get hot with this "new" swing like he did at Memorial and Congressional, but does anyone else think that he gets so crowded to the ball and then has the club extremely laid off. Not to mention he is dropping down more than normal it seems to me. I go back and look at those 2000 and 2001 tournaments and see his swing and I just can't believe he made so many changes. He is still the world's best and maybe the greatest ever either way though.

Hes playing so inconsistently because of how much his swing relies on timing. The club face is so open coming into the ball he has to roll it hard with his hands and it brings the 2 way miss into play. Honestly i have no idea what tiger is doing with his golf swing because it currently looks the worse it ever has.

I can see him making the cut though, just. But hes not going to be in contention.

i personally don't care either way. I am just getting really sick of all of the club slamming. Does he just not think he should EVER do anything wrong? Sorry Tiger, but you are human just like all the rest of the guys. Please grow up a little and act like a pro.

Does this need to be brought up in every Tiger thread?

I honestly think he needs a coaching change. I have never been a Haney fan, but in either instance he certainly isn't doing much good for Tiger's swing. I really hope he turns this around for Hazeltine. It will be the first time I see him in person and I can't wait!

I think he's done... +5 and this course/weather, his swing, whatever seems to have won the mental battle...

x2 on the club slamming...that's something that isn't cool at any level, but much less with the golf world watching...he's acting like a baby.

Very enjoyable Open so far with Watson being the Norman of this year. Tiger is history for this one. Even if he pulls a miracle and makes the cut he won't come anywhere near winning it. The coverage will be better without him as they seem to want to follow every lousy shot. Wonder how long it will be before the "he needs to do this with his swing, go back to his Titleist driver, and finally go back to Butch" threads start... I guess he can't go back to his legendary Miura irons since they are all Miura irons--that can't help the urban legend..

He may be one of the greatest golfers ever but he is a lousy loser. In that regard (and second place finishes in majors) he will never pass Jack Nicklaus.. Jack never ducked interviews no matter how lousy he played. His club slamming is probably the worst on the tour.. Almost like how dare the club hit a lousy shot?? Wonder if he will keep up the club slamming, cursing, and lugy spitting when his children start noticing the example he is setting? Does seem to do less loud cursing and spitting at the Open, which is a good thing (also tells you he is aware of what he is doing---not just a reaction)

Tiger is playing horrible, his swing is horrible, and he is going to miss the cut unless he goes off. I said the same thing in another thread yesterday. Looks like iteachgolf was dead on when he said he saw things he didn't like in Tiger's swing.

Yes. He acts like a whiny child sometimes.

...and, yes I hope he does miss the cut. He's not a god, ...just a golfer.

I am pretty sure its the other way around there, where everyone thinks Tiger is not human. He just got back into playing from Knee Surgery, take it easy guys. We already won 3 events didnt he this year?

Jack Nicklaus never had the stress of surpassing Jack Nicklaus' record. At the time, once Jack surpassed Walter Hagen's total, he was in uncharted waters. The pressure was certainly there to win, but there's a difference when the bar has clearly been set. All of us have felt that to a smaller degree by having the barriers of breaking 100, 90, 80, and 70 to shoot for.

Personally, I think the pressure of that is wearing on Tiger. He might do well to remember that he has quite a few more years left in his career, and that it will probably happen as his career runs its course. Easier said than done, I realize.

Tiger is going home early, he's not going to make the cut. He's @ +7 right now. I'm sure his daughter will be happy to see dad come home early. :beach:

Er, yeah ... and Jack Nicklas wasn't a god, just a golfer. Roger Federer isn't a god, just a tennis player. And Michael Jordan wasn't a god, just a basketball player. They were, and are, however, players that went to the pinnacle of their sports in their generations.

Tiger Woods doesn't think he's a god - he's a golfer ... that feels like he has to work for every win, gets frustrated when he's playing poorly, and shows emotion pretty openly.

Somehow, when he wins, anyone that cheers is a "fanboy", and when he's losing, signs of frustration mean he's a "whiney child". For some amazingly strange reason, however, he doesn't seem to give a flying crap what anyone thinks of his behavior on the golf course ... least of all those that actually hope he misses the cut. (Why would any golf fan hope any player missed the cut?)

I've really never understood the extreme Tiger hatred that seems to swirl around. I mean, certainly we all have players we like better than others in any tourney (in this one, I'm actually rooting for Tom Watson - OMG! as I write this, he just sunk a long birdie at 18 and is again tied for the lead!!!!). Tiger has been a priviledge to watch in his career (as was Jack, and Arnie years ago). I really am kind of puzzled how a genuine fan of any sport can actively hate a player who's career elevates the game itself to another level ... to the point of actually hoping he isn't there on the weekend.

That's preposterous! He makes a bazillion more dollars than what Jack could ever think about making.

Eh. It is a shame. I know not everyone like to see him win, however..

.. It is so much fun to watch when he makes a good golf swing. He will get it together by the PGA, imo.

I agree with it might be time to change teachers and perhaps consider going back to the old swing.

I was waiting for the 'change teachers' comment. He might, you never know. I think he's still trying to get the knee 100%. Those surgeries take a lot longer to come back from than people think.

I think the healing process, and tiger now being able to go full extension (or close to it) on the left leg....the swing change is not there yet and wont be for a while. I think he'll win a few tourneys down the stretch, but I don't see this getting fixed easily.

I wonder if Tiger's agent has contacted "iteachgolf" about a possible swing coach change.

He's human and is due for a bad round every now and then. A few years ago he shot a horrible round in bad conditions at the Open.

It isn't. It is his swing. His knee isn't causing him to lay the club off or roll his wrists that hard through impact.

He can still make the cut with a 4-3-3 or combination of those figures finish. Part 1 is OK - he's centre of fairway 16.

Well said. Also, his demeanor in the majors is different than regular tourneys. And not in a positive way.
