I am guessing these are the new famed Titleist AP2B or AP2 710 or ...? (daheels photo, US Bank Champ)

The pocket cavity is different also. And from this angle it looks like there is less offset.

Guys around here said they were going to be smaller heads than originals yet you say longer . I really don,t care but if people here got the topline and soles as thin as wished for along with thier desired no offset there wouldn,t be much of a head left to hit. Unless you can put the old next to new it's hard to judge but they do look good.

Doesn't the sole on that 5 iron look wider then the current AP2's? Also, the hosel length's on the long irons compared to the short irons look even more exagerated then the current line of AP2's.

Is it possible that titleist is going to make the newer AP2 even more forgiving them the current line? I hit my friends AP2's this whole week and I must say I think I'm starting to like them more then my S57's, which I spent a freakin month researching and demo'ing. Man, I gotta stop frequenting this site so much. I usually keep clubs in my bag for at least 4-5 years but am now seriously considering the current AP2's. I'll hold out thought if the newer AP2's are going to have even more forgiveness?

I know this has been posted before but anyone got any real deal news on these or release dates?

October/November release.

my rep said that the new AP2's would be even more forgiving than the current ones....longer heel-to-toe, wider sole, same topline.

we'll see.

It's a shame I've grown so impatient. I'll probably pick up a set of AP2's this week (today) and see if I can trade in my S57's.

We'll see what happens when these new AP2's come out.

Also, wouldn't it make more sense to name the new line AP4's and name the newer AP1's something like AP3, or something similar to this naming scheme?

I am a little surprised cause I thought every manufacturer would implement a line of irons similar to the 09 Burners (progressive headsize, offset, and cavity depth) within their new lineups since they were a huge seller this year. Perhaps this new AP4 is similar to that? If it does end up having a larger footprint (longer head, wider sole) then the current AP2 it probably won't recieve much tour acceptance... but who knows?

The sole of the five iron and others do not look like there is much if any camber to them.

Looks very good, agree that the changes look to be geared toward forgiveness. Looks more like a players version of the AP1 than an improved AP2 in this picture.

yes...and since Titleist has 4 irons out now and 4 more coming, the AP series doesn't necessarily have to be hard to hit...they have the ZB's and the ZM's for the "players".

I think I would've rather seen an AP2-B, with narrower sole.

Thanks for the close-up, DaHeels!

Sole on the 5-iron does look wider...boo!

Tungsten weight looks same size/placement.

Smoothed/tapered/refined edges.

Looks like the new model designation on the hosel?

First thing I noticed as well, aesthetically I like them more than the current head. I am looking forward to trying them out as it is about time for a new set of irons for me.

I like the look of the new cavity badge, but WOW....those soles are WIDE. Too wide in my opinion.

The elastomer insert looks a little thicker (hard to tell) and more behind the sweet spot instead of heel to toe like the current AP2's.

it looks like they are catching on for sure. They look more like GI"s then the current version. The pro's must be able to work the ball with them if their using them

Those would definitely have a higher CG and give a lower ball flight. I could actually game those and not have a balloon factory in my hands when compared to the current AP2 short irons.

I'm going to guess Titleist is going to move these more toward a GI forged iron, and come out with a new regular cavity back forged club that will slot in between these AP2's and there new blade, getting rid of the ZB/ blended set line. They then would have a blade, cavity back, and pocket cavity for there "players" clubs.

I may be in the minority, but I think the original AP2s look better. Will I still be able to order them from the factory later this year or is it now or never?

Agree completely...cosmetically they don't look as good as the originals.
