Played the Black yesterday. Tee'd off at 2:30 and playing the back nine in the glowing twilight was amazing. We've played there many times and have always been very concious of keeping our bags in sight when we go for our post round cocktail and to settle our bets. They had a function on the terrace last night so we had to go inside to the bar. We left our bags on the rack next to the three people that were selling tix to the function outside figuring they would be safe. Sure enough, my friend's bag was stolen. I'm sorry to report I think this happens somewhat regularly. Luckily, my friend owns a golf store so he can replace everything but everyone should be very careful when playing there. He didn't have any manufacturer provided headcovers to tell the theives what goodies he had but it didn't matter. He lost his 20 yr old putter and ballmarker collection which really bummed him out. My sense is that there is a guy or guys cruising the place looking for bags to swipe.

Now that absolutely sucks for your buddy, and in no way do I condone what happened. I'd set a guy up for 20 years for doing that if it were in my power.

However I do have to ask this(keeping in mind that Long Island may necessitate transportation options I can't relate to): why would you not put the clubs back in the car before going in for drinks? Your buddy took a lot of steps, yes, with the headcovers, etc., but why leave the bag out front?

By no means am I trying to say he got what he deserved or anything like that, but if it seems to be a regular occurrence, why not take the extra step? The 5 minutes it takes to do that are not worth what happened I would think....maybe it's my OCD that I seem to have, but my clubs go straight back in the car after the round for this very reason.
