Billy Boy Gates "lobbied" and wrote letters as well and you know they told him to pound sand for a while. I guess after a while being the the guy with the biggest wallet does pay.

Good luck to all the Mississippians.

If you mean race, I believe one gentlemen is African American, if you mean wealth the answer is NO, cause they're all loaded.

Tibs,

Interesting that you mention this. Having played with Michael Jordan here in the Chicago area a couple times (Edgewood Valley and Medinah), he has been the same way. Not sure if it was because he had nothing in his pocket or not. It was like everyone should be honored to be in his presence. Don't get me wrong, I was a huge fan of what he did on the court, but stiffin' the caddies was a huge disappointment. Myself and one of the other guys covered him and that should never of happened. Maybe guys expect too much from them because of who they are and therefore they go to the opposite extreme. The least that they could do is be "average" when it come to tipping. I don't know.....go figure.

Forget stiffing the caddies, he still owes me $300  !

I wonder if Bill ever even goes there to play?

He was in Florida a while back and played The Medalist with another billionaire one day.....after they got done, neither had any liquid money with them to pay the caddy  ....how unbelievable is that for two billionaires to have to borrow money in the pro shop :( !

Average age of those with age listed: 71.2.  Do you think they have a junior membership for those under 60?

Wow, old thread.

Sweet though.

Can you imagine being successful enough and wealthy enough by the age of 39 to belong at Augusta.  Thats the youngest one I saw.

And still having to wait behind 70+ year old fogeys. Even money can't buy a four hour round.

Only kidding.

I think if I was that successful, I'd buy and build my own course. Obviously, money is no object for many of those members. Personal playground!

Old thread is old. I was surprised to see Arkansas on there 5 times. Two of them being younger members of the club. Frank Broyles was a given though. Maybe I'll be number 6 one day..50 years from now when i'm old enough.

Any minorities on that list?

There's currently five.  Ron Townsend, Virgis Colbert, Ray Robinson, Kenneth Chenault and Lloyld Ward.

There's been 6 total, but the second is no longer a member.  Bill Simms joined a few years after Townsend, the initial minority member who was added due to the Shoal Creek scandal.  He seemed to be perfect, VIP at Transamerica, part owner of the Carolina Panthers, supposedly an elite athlete who won  gold medal at the 1968 Olympics.  But that turned out to be a lie.  He claimed to have a BA and MBA from USC but that was also a lie.  He claimed to have run track at USC with OJ Simpson, which was also a lie.  Soon after the discovery he lost his job and "resigned" from the club.
