Golfing in Cabo San Lucas

My parents randomly decided to go to cabo for fourth of july wknd to golf for a few days and want me to come but I have to figure out where to stay and where to play. Have any of you guys been there to golf? If so, feel free to make any suggestions pertaining to anything that would help me plan this short notice trip efficiently. I'm looking for a nice resort and a great course or two that are part of a resort or unrelated...doesn't matter unless it's cheaper one way or the other. Also kind of prefer it to be in closer proximity to whatever "town" they have there so I can ditch the parents and go meet girls and get drunk. I've never been there so I'm not sure how the city is laid out.

I played Cabo San Lucas Country Club (aka Raven Club) in April and it was a pretty nice course. Dye design. Very good greens. Played it in the afternoon and got around in 2.5 hours, no joke.
I also heard very good things about Palmilla, which is a Nicklaus course.
Hope that helps.

Palmilla was beautiful and a fun course. I have no doubt Cabo Real and Cabo del Sol are fine courses too.
Looking on the intraweb I see that peak season prices are gone and the deals appear to be better.
On a side not, my wife is a higher up at two nice courses and even with the help of her fairly known in the industry boss, not one course in Cabo was willing to kick down a deal.
The bottom line for me about golf in Cabo is that while the courses are nice, I play plenty of golf at nice courses at home and would not take my clubs back to Cabo unless the price was right. My fishing trip there was far more memorable than the golf. I also spent mornings and evenings surf casting on the beach
If money is not an issue and you don't care about sitting on the beach, swimming etc, get after it.

I was down there during the christmas holiday and played both Pamilla and Cabo Real...Pamilla is an excellent course...Cabo Real has a very difficult from 9 and is a good course...Try the new Nicklaus course call Club Campestre San Jose...Its in Pamilla's league...Also, you can get a discount if you play this course and Cabo Real...Just ask someone about it...Golf in the Cabo area is expensive during the peak season, but overall rocks!!!!

Pamilla is a great Nicklaus course, I've played it twice.
Played Cabo Real, not up to par with the other two but it is still a very nice course. It has some great holes on the ocean. This is where they use to play the senior skins game.

1. Cabo Del Sol Ocean: Best "free" tacos at the turn. Awesome overall. Awesome.
2. Palmilla: All around great, but not quite CDS
Also heard good things about Campestre, haven't played it yet. My family is there right now and they said they may play it though. Querencia was also a treat if you can get on, but I don't think many can.

I played Both Cabo Real courses, Both Del Sol courses and Palmilla
By far hands down the Palmilla was my favorite!!!
Cabo Del Sol is just way to commercialized for me. From the beggining they bothered me by making me sit through the ranger explaining how grain on a course worked even though I told him I can read a green!! After that probably every other hole a ranger was coming by tr=ying to make conversation. I'm all for good customer service, but I came to golf and enjoy time with my wife not play alongside the ranger. There are some of the most beatiful holes that I had ever played, but again I was already put off from the atmosphere. They do also have the BEST free tacos at the turn I have ever ate in my life. The only chance I would go back would be at an extreme discount or just for the tacos.
The Palmilla was amazing...You pull up and there is a tiny 1 room clubhouse kinda thinking what have I got myself into??? But, as I went over the hill to the pristine driving range i knew that this was going to be great. The course it self is very secluded with not very many homes around and some of the best ocean holes in the world! I would suggest trying to get an early time there just due to the fact its cooler.
Overall one of my best golf trips to date....Have fun!!!
