Was wondering what John has in the bag now. I saw a Swing Vision of him hitting a 3 wood at St. Jude but had a hard time identifying the club. Adams? Still has a great swing for a big out-of-shape guy.

Funny, I saw that video and thought the same thing.  He's playing the Adams Idea Pro Blacks, and their Speedline "Classic" driver (a non retail version that has a little "bump" on the back of the sole that looks similar to the A4's)  The "three wood" almost looked like a Ping G10 hybrid, but one source calls it a 15* Adams "prototype" hybrid.  The problem here is that the Idea Pro hybrids had "prototype" on them, even in the mass produced retail version.  So Adams' use of the term "prototype" may not have the same meaning.  It's frustrating, frankly.  Then again, Adams is also the king of putting out "prototype" clubs with four digit codes that are gobbled up left and right on eBay.

And his pants kick a**.

At Turnberry he'd ditched the Vokeys for some similarly-lofted satin Cleveland 588s TGs.

Those are the fellas.

Full marks to the Cleveland lads for those ready-made lead tape chunks that they use on their wedges. Very neat. As is the writing with that Sharpie.

Cool glove.  Looking at the fescue covering his arms, I'm starting to see why they call him the lion.

Why not use Adams' wedges? Just curious. Are they inferior to other wedges, or perhaps his contract allows?

What's the story with the GripMaster leather grips you've been using this year !?

I started using the leather ones in November 2008 and fell in love with them.  We then came out with the kangaroo ones - they're a lot lighter and get stickier as it gets wet or hot, which is great.  I know my swingweights are going to be closer too - all the other grips are just too heavy.  You've got a kangaroo leather here that's the thinnest, most durable leather in the world.  They say the grips will last about eight years.

i think he was originally using the perforated black ones, although i'm not sure if they were .58 or .60, round or ribbed, or shock resistant or not. i guess now, he's on to the kangaroo ones. any word on what color/model he's using?

Wow, Eye2 wedges? That's crazy. Why would he do this? I know Calc said he has a bunch of them stored because they aren't produced anymore. I don't understand why JD would use these though??????

Didn't he play Eye2's for quite some times earlier in his career?  Not to mention, they're legal square grooves.

One of the best wedge designs ever; along with probably 75% of people who were playing golf during the 1980s and 90s he's used similar wedges in the past; and he evidently feels that he's getting a performance advantage with those wedges via the loophole that allows him to use otherwise non-conforming grooves.

There are lots of reasons for Daly to be bagging those wedges.

I always liked those wedges as well. I have an original Eye SW which is a great wedge as well. They're easy to hit for some reason and they don't dig. I've just heard they're hard as hell to find now, thus why Calc has a stock of them on hand.

Off topic, but what's going on with the caddie's hands? The lad's got a bit of anaphylaxis going on judging by the size of those mitts.

You could feed a family of ten for a month on the meat that's on those hands. It's Chris Pine in Star Trek.

Today at the Puerto Rico Open, Daly is playing:

Driver: R9 Supertri with UST Axivcore and His grips all in yellow
Hybrid: Adams 15*
Irons: Ping I15 2-PW
Wedges: Some sort of wedge I couldnt recognize in 52, 56 and 60 all with lead tape on the back

I dont have pictures as I was doing walking scorer so I couldnt take my phone out to take pictures but I did get an autographed golf ball :)

BTW he is using Bridgestone Tour B330-S with his Lion logo on it.

John Daly switched to a TaylorMade Tour Burner 3-wood for the Transitions Championship, just a week after putting a new driver in play in Puerto Rico.

The driver, a R9 SuperTri, is heavily toe-weighted, with 12 grams of extra weight there. He also has it set to the "R" position for far right, as his biggest swings tend to produce hooks.

"Being able to move the CG around for a guy like Daly really helps us fit him properly and it gives him the results he wants," a TaylorMade representative said in an e-mail.
