the weather here in nyc has been real crappy for the past few weeks with alot of rain and it looks like theres a good chance of rain thurs, fri and sat during the open and nice on sunday.

my question is what happens if you have tickets for sat and sunday and the open gets rained out thurs and or friday? do all the rounds get pushed back and your tickets are good for the postponed date? anyone know?

i called the usga and the lady was nice but didnt know the answer just read something from a book about marshals monitoring the weather and evacuating people from the course in event of lightning or whatever. then i got transferred to the championship dept but got a voicemail.

just curious cause i have some friends visiting from out of state and i want to know what to do in the event of a delay/postponement

thanks

I don't know the answer to your question, but did you check the fine print on the tickets? A lot of times an event or venue will have their policy printed on the back of the ticket.

Just a thought.

I would say that if your ticket says Saturday on it, then it's for Saturday and not for the third round. I certainly hope so anyway. I have one for Saturday and if they ended up losing Thursday and Friday and my ticket was only good for Monday that would bug big time.

Most of the time in the case of postponing a round on thursday or friday, if you have a ticket to a day that gets rained out, the tournament will usually let you come any other day instead. Sucks for me though cause i have a ticket for thursday and I have to be at work on friday so if thursday gets rained out im screwed.

I'm not far from NYC and I have a job that has an aviation component, and from watching weather while at work I'll say this.......
The weather forecast will change atleast twice in that time. I'm not saying that it won't rain or that your question isn't valid (I have Friday tickets myself), but I really wouldn't start placing much credence in the weather just yet.

We'll see what it says come Wednesday. Let's hope for a cool sunny day :clapping:
