So I know that if I really want to take my game seriously, playing hung over should be out of the question.  However, I do play hung over from time to time, and it REALLY effects my game.  I was just wandering if anyone has any "magic cures".  I figure water/gatorade, and eating during the round will help the most.  I just was curious if anyone has other suggustions.

Drink on the week nights like I do & take it easy the night before you play. Work is OK hungover but golf sucks hungover. I am hungover right now actually typing this from my desk at work.

I have a friend who played a few years on the PGA Tour, and many other tours.. South African, European, etc.
He told me once that he tended to play pretty well when hung over.. He was less likely to swing over-aggressively and his swing was overall simpler..
I guess you can play well though when your daily practice consists of 300-350 bunker shots, and an equal number of drivers and iron practice lol..

Drink more water while you are tying one on.  Helps keep you hydrated so the hangovers don't hurt so much.

I've always to drink water while also out drinking...then take a vitamin before you hit the sack.

Wake up, take another vitamin, eat some breakfast with a gatorade, and off to the tee!

Get up early and run 5 miles.  Sweating out the hangover works for me.

Make that two of us.

When I'm hungover bad and need to golf - I know it's a tired cure - but a little booze helps. I'm not a huge bloody/ceasar fan....but they work.
Bud makes that Chillata(?) now with the clam already mixed in there for you. Convenient ways to grab some carbs, liquid and a little liquid courage all at once.

Also - take note of what you actually can keep down on those bottle-flu mornings. For me it's jerky. Don't know why....
Whatever it is though - eat it and eat as much as you can. Anything bread-like is good. Greasy stuff helps to. If you can handle a full breakfast hungover there's lots of options. Biscuits and gravy with sausage and/or bacon - and bloody to drink loaded with celery, pickle, olives - you'll be ready to roll!

On a side note....try and get into the habit of chugging water before going to bed after boozing it up. The difference it makes in the morning is significant (for me anyway).

Ahh, the voice of experience!

Just don't go to sleep and you'll miss that hangover train, or go to sleep and drink a bloody mary for breakfast. An expresso with a half of a lemon will take care of the headache. Be sure to brush your teeth before talking to the starter!

If (big if) I am still lucid at the end of a binge, I will drink a large glass of water and take a BC powder prior to going to bed. I have found this to work for me whether I drink beer, whiskey or vodka. However, if this was a tequila night it doesn't matter what you do. Still experimental on trying to find a cure for a tequila hangover.
But if you are hungover when heading to the first tee, I'll have to agree with an earlier poster: drink a little more. Oh, and carry plenty of breath mints.

Have one or two as a counterattack. Worked perfektly for me on my last vacation.

Or make yourself a cup of vegetable stock before you go to bed, works wonders!

More beer...maybe a swing of water to balance you out...haha. of course, if you fall down after a shot, might as well just ride and wait for your ride to pick you up, or your buddies to get done and drive you home safely.  :drinks:

Nah...really, I'm all about beer, but not as a hangover remedy.  Water, and lots of it, is the answer.  Then maybe something with caffeine to clear the cobwebs.  After that, a food product you can keep down, and you'll be fine.

Sadly, I do this all the time.... :secret:

Pedialyte, half before you go to sleep and the other half when you wake up.  Plenty of water as well of course but the pedialyte will give you a nice boost on top of the water.

man what a conincidence.  I did that today.  Just HORRIBLE.  4 hours sleep, burping up whisky, sweating my a** off.  I left after 5 holes, went for a coffee and shower came back for the turn and still felt horrible.

Never again.

Smoothies. Here is my favorite. I'll throw in a banana for some potassium, and a couple of scoops of whey powder. And yes I'll have a couple of these each week. But being hungover might explain how I play the front so much better.

Watermelon Hangover Smoothie Recipe

1 cup of frozen strawberries (unsweetened, cut into smaller pieces)
2-3 cups of fresh watermelon depending on taste (seeded, diced)
1/3 cup of raspberry sorbet (optional)
1 teaspoons of fresh lime juice (add more if needed)
Add ice cubes if needed
Put all the ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth, serves about 2 people

Thanks for all the replies guys.  I'm glad I'm not alone on this.  It was a rough weekend.  Gatorade, water, and PB&J seemed to get me through alright.  Water throughout the night is probably what I should have incorporated.  Playing in 101 heat while walking didn't seem to help the situation to much though.

The magic cure was menitoned above.    PEDIALYTE.

Goto Target/Walmart and get the generic Pedialyte.  It is in the baby section. Should cost you 3 bucks or so.   Drink half of it before bed and half in the morning.  I go with the orange or purple and find they taste decent.   Pop two Advil at night and morning also.

It works much better than Gatorade since Gatorade has alot of sugar.  Pedialyte is all electrolytes and stuff to rehydrate the body.

A really spicy bloody mary will help the hangover. The more conservative approach of pedialyte or lots of water is also good, but less tasty.
