I have finally decided to give sunglasses a try while golfing. I have been looking for something that I will only wear on the golf course. I can't get the picture of David Duval's M frames out of my head when I think of Oakley golf glasses, but it seems that the Radar Paths would give you great coverage, but not as gaudy as the M frame. Anybody have thoughts on this? To the people that have the Radars, do you really like them, or is it just whatever?

Also, is it worth it to go to golf specific sunglasses just to get the G30 lens? If not, it opens up a lot of styles that I like that I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear off the course. I know the Flak Jackets are golf specific as well, but they appeal about as much to me as the Radar Paths, but don't seem like they would work as well.

I have the Radar Range, which is similar. It's a good choice for golf as the larger, one piece lens prevents my peripheral vision from catching lens edges, but they look dorky off course. For some reason, they don't look as dorky on course under a hat.

Oakley can put the G30 lens in most styles. Their site is pretty extensive, so check out all the options. From what I have gathered, the term GOLF SPECIFIC can be a little misleading as in that is not the only lens for golf. The G30 is recommend for flat to medium light conditions, so on bright, sunny days, you may want to try something with less light transmission, which is specified in percentage. You want a lens with contrast, not neutral.

Click here and click the LENS TINTS tab

Just curious as to what type of lens you would recommend for those bright/sunny days? Thanks.

I go with the Gold Iridium, which is (going from memory) 15% light transmission vs. 30% on the G30. Zach Johnson wears Oakleys...notice how on some days you can see his eyes (G30s) and other days you can't, meaning he has something darker on that day.

Never really paid that much attention to detail but nice observation. I was thinking about going with both G30 and G30 black iridium and just alternating between those two depending on the situation. I'll have to check out the gold iridiums.

I have the radar ranges. I use them mostly for my cycling habit. The G30 lens is also a great lens for cycling.

I still can't get used glasses while golfing. Often times I'll wear them in between shots.

They do look strange off the course. I have Ray Bans for that purpose

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE G30 OR WHATEVER GOLF SPECIFIC THEY SAY THEIR SELLING NOW..... Also flak jackets are not golf specific. The best lens- in my opinion- I've tried them all- the best is gold iridium-non polarized version - a store will try to upsell you but hold firm. You don't want polarized lens' for golf. Gold Iridium lens' that oakley makes are amazing - green reading, depth perception and anything else you need. Pick any style of frame you want. Use the custom shop online. It's only 5 more dollars than regular price to get exactly what you want- lens, color of frames, color of badges on the side, etc. It's a bit more if you want your name etched into the lens' but that wouldn't be good for golf. If you want something cheap and great try Maxx's - - they're golf specific, come in many different styles, are found at many courses around the country, claim to be the best for golf and at only $20!!!!! I'd get a pair if I didn't have two pair of oakley's with Gold Iridium lens' - - -anyhow, hope that helps.
