Is this thing actually better than the 04 model, i've heard that it is basically the 04 x model, i love the 03-04 balls but i'm out, i don't want to waste money on a sleeve if they are just the old x.

I hear you on the concern that theses balls are just the old 04 Pro v1x . I have a few dozen of the 04 Prov 1 left and are happy with them as well. have not been able to get myself to try out the 05 version , even though I bought 6 dozen at a great price on Ebay. hope some people will chime in and ease or heighten our concerns. guess my biggest question is do they still have more spin than the 04 Pro v1 x ? I like the X off the tee but it does not spin enough on partial shots and cover is a bit hard to me when putting. lets hear it guys :clapping:

I consider the new Pro V1 to be a cross between the old V1 and V1x. I feel like it's a little harder, with less spin and slightly longer off the tee than the old V1. I also definitely think it spins more around the greens, and is more forgiving on mishits than the old Pro V1x. You still need to compress the ball pretty good to get the best performance, but not as much as the old Pro V1x IMO.

Just an update on the Pro v1 2005 version as I gave it a go for a round the other day. here are my takes on the ball as I compared it directly to the 2004 model, I was able to play 2 balls most of the round. distance off the diver seemed to be maybe 3-5 yards for me. iron shots into the green held very well, about the same as the 2004 for me, ball did seem to curve a little less, chipping balls had a tad less spin but not a whole lot. the putting was fine and did not feel like a rock. overall I would say for me it acted very similar to the 2004 version with the chance to grab a few extra yards if struck well, maybe just plan on a little extra release on chips, down side might be for somebody who likes to really curve the ball seems like that may be tougher to do but not impossible

To me this ball is not as good as i had expected. This version is longer but it spins way to much for me. The new pro v1x is way longer and you don't spin it back as much.

playing the new Pro V1x balls. Love them! I always found the Pro v1 to spin too much for me. I am not goor enough to play for the spin on greens. I prefer to stop it where it lands, unless hitting a wedge wehre maybe it backs up a little. The x model does this perfectly for me. I hated hitting a 5-iron and spinning it off a green. Now I can hit with confidence and as someone with a naturally high ball flight, this keeps a down a bit more for me. Now getting optimal trajectory on my driver and while still high, a good trajectory on my irons.

The warm feeling I get when someone is thoughtful enough to say thank you for having been helped far outweighs the empty one
I get when there's no feedback at all yamaha r1
