Good for him! Life is too short. I didn't like when the press was drilling him about playing in the Masters just shortly after he won the Players. It was inconsiderate to say the least.

Yeah, that was a little ridiculous to say the least.

He hasn't said yes, but he hasn't said no either. I would venture to say that he needs to spend as much to time as he can with his family. Imagine all the free time and all the jack he just won. The Master's is all about avoiding ridges on greens, Azeleas, Redbud trees, using a driver on most holes, Southern belles with their hats and Hootie.

Check here for an update from IMG this morning.

I should have added into this thread rather than starting a new one.

I think that he has the perogative to do whatever he wants. If he feels he rather spend time with his family than play in the a golf tournament so be it. It's not like the Masters is the last tournament of the season. He has just won the tournament with the biggest purse on tour. In terms of playing golf for a living it doesn't get any better than that. When everything is said and done the Masters is a golf tournament nothing more and nothing less.

I'm from Canada, so here the whole Ames thing is a big deal. He was on a local sports radio show, and after discussing it with his family he has confirmed that he is going to play in the masters.

Why is it a big deal in Canada? I thought he was from Trinidad and just lived in Canada.

He is a Canadian Citizen as well (dual). He plays golf under the Canadian Flag year round. The only time that he plays under the T & T flag is for WGC and country events. He said that Canada is so well represented and it was the only way that T & T would be part of the event.

He is originally from T&B but he is now a Canadian Citizen. Married a Canadian woman.

:cheesy:

That was a good one.

Mike Weir hasn't left Canada so perhaps Ames is just the backup plan.

I am not bashing anyone, merely stating the obvious. OBVIOUSLY Ames is a World Class player. He really hammered a World Class field at the Players. Props to you Mr. Ame,. BUT, he should have waited to spout off about Tiger at the World match play "AFTER" he beat him in match play, surely not before. Bad move, especially considering Tiger's popularity and Tiger's mental prowess when playing. In fact, I am not even a Tiger Woods fan, I enjoy watching him get beat, especially since it doesn't seem to happen all that often. Good job Mr. Ames.
