Anyone using the KBS Shafts that used the orginal project X? The dull finish Project X and not the Chrome. I am looking at the KBS Black Nickel. I have a chance to buy a set of the dull finish. Just some food for thought
Play the KBS in my irons. I like them, but I am coming from S300 not Project X, so I am not sure if this will help. They do seem to kick smoother and do seem to be tighter in dispersion in comparison to the S300.
My PX satins tips were way stiffer than my KBS shafts. The KBS definitely feel smoother through impact but PX satin had a better feedback I could definitely feel a difference in a pure shot or a mishit.
it is just a hard choice. i am playing the KBS this weekend. a friend of mine give me a set of Oil Can Vokeys with the black nickel KBS. I am about the reshaft my Mizuonos with the KBS black Nickel, Red and White ferrules, red and white IOMIC X-Evoultion grips. Paint fill the irons with Red and and white. I think that will look sharp. What do you guys think?
i am going to start building them the first of next month. i have a honeymoon week after next. heading to savannah, GA for 10 days. when we get back and settle in i am going to start building them.
You all talk about feeling smoother, which I totally agree with, what about flight in comparison in the iron shafts?
I play the KBS smoke wedge shafts in both my wedges and switched from the DG S400 mainly for feel and control, but I didn't really see a flight difference because they were wedges and I play a lot of knock down shots to control my spin. I'm looking at a WRX set of S57's and don't whether or not to order them with KBS or just a stock set of S300's.
So comp flight from S300 to KBS and Project X to KBS?

Make your honeymoon something to remember...go to Chip Ushers Golf Shop and get a C&L Putter (www.350milled.com) made for yourself. You won't regret it, plus, you'll have something to remind you of what a great time you had on your honeymoon. If you venture out to play some golf Crosswinds is nice as is Savannah Harbor where the seniors played two weeks ago.
i was going to play Deer Creek and The Landings. However, I am not even taking my sticks on my Honeymoon. I play enough through the summer. I am going to go relax with my wife and chill out. Every vacation prior to this one is centered around golf. Kinda of excited about a no golf vacation.
You found a special woman if she lets you take your clubs on your honeymoon. I didn't even ask, I figured I have to sleep next to this woman for the next 50+ years.
She had no problem with it at all. Said i could play while there no problem. I just do not want to. I want a break from everything, just the beach and beer
Does anyone know how to distinguish the difference in flex for KBS Tour shafts? Are they silk screened numbers on the butt end? I acquired a set and all they had were stickers on the butt end. I have an uneasy feeling!!!!

What is the part number on the stickers? I can tell you based on that.
I literally just came in from hitting the KBS Tour 6.5s in my 8 iron. I put it in my 03 Apex blades, replaced the Apex 4 shaft. Great feel, great flight, great dispersion.
I have various clubs with Rifle 6.5, Rifle 6.0, Rifle Flighted 6.0, PX 6.0, PX Flighted 6.0 etc. These do not compare at all in terms of feel. The KBS feel as good as my MP 100s which have S 300s in them.
I actually cut it long and put it in w/o a ferrule in case I needed to soft step, but I won't. Gonna pull the rest of those Apexes and reshaft my gamers after I get off the computer.
I just finished about a 3 week comparison of DGX100 in a set of X Prototypes vs KBS Tour 6.5 in a set of X Prototypes vs PX Flighted 6.0 in a set of the original X Forged ('07 version). In my opinion, here is what I found.
DGX100 - nice smooth feel on solid contact, a little harsh feeling on mishits but they are the lowest torque shafts of the bunch so that it to be expected, hard to feel the shaft load if you make a nice smooth swing but if you overswing definitely trouble, low launch angle but due to the spin the shafts generate the ball flight gets high, I have played dynamic golf forever so I will call this my standard length
KBS Tour 6.5 - WOW!! I've heard a lot about these shafts which is the reason I tried them and they are amazing, absolutely the best feel in terms of solid contact, not a harsh feeling on mishits but definitely get feedback, easy to feel the shaft loading on smooth swings, low launch angle but maybe a tad bit higher than DG, ball flight levels off and does not get as high as DG, definitely longer than the DG, for me I would say at least 5 yards longer on average, tighter dispersion than the DG
PX Flighted 6.0 - let me disclose up front that I've never liked rifle shafts, to me I had to hit an absolutely perfect shot to get a nice smooth feel on contact, hits off center felt a little harsh but mishits felt like I was using a 2x4, the shaft definitely loads nicely, launch angle is significantly higher than DG or KBS, after take off the flight does level off and does not get higher than DG, longer than DG and about the same as KBS, I would attribute this somewhat to the difference in weight, the 6.0 are about 5 grams lighter than both the DG and KBS, I would say about the same dispersion as DG maybe a little tighter
I also tested a DGX100 soft stepped one time, a DGX100 with Sensicore, and a DGX100 with Sensicore soft stepped one time. All 3 shafts were in the X Forged set.
Launch angles and ball flights were the same as DGX100 for all of the shafts. The DGX100 soft stepped had a much smoother feel than the straigt in DGX100. The shafts with Sensicore had about the same feeling except that mishits did not feel as harsh due to the vibration dampener. I like the feel of the Sensicore but not enough of a difference to me to justify spending the extra 8 or 9 bucks per shaft.
I also have the black nickel KBS 6.5 wedge shaft in my X Forged 54 and 60 degree wedges. I compared the 60 degree to a 58 degree X Forged with a DGX100 shaft. Honestly not a whole lot of difference that I can tell. Both shafts feel really smooth for both full swings, pitches, and chips. Again I will say that the KBS appear to be slightly longer than the DG for the same reason. The KBS ball flight levels off but the DG ball flight gets progressively higher.
I am going to go with the KBS in my main set and DGX100 soft stepped one time in my back up set. I really can't say enough good things about the KBS shafts. Truly lived up to all the hype. PX are great shafts but I just don't like the feel. At the end of the day choosing a shaft is all about feel and ball flight.
Again these are my opinions so others may disagree but I hope this helps.
Just finished building my set this AM. Hit every club into a 20mph+ wind. Phenomenal. I am a high ball hitter and these clubs just bore through the wind. No balooning at all. And very maneuverable. Hit em high, low, L -> R and R -> L with ease. To me they feel softer than they cpm.
