Arlington, Virginia

Just a grad student, so mostly munis for me (cheaper) -- Hains Point, Rock Creek Park in DC, various Fairfax County public courses. My parents recently moved to Heritage Hunt GCC in Gainesville, so I have started to play there every so often.

i dont know if there is another piedmont club in virginia but the VHSL high school state match was there
great course it was wet and divots were huge and loved to hear them plop on the fairway after they hit

once again deep run took the win

we came second to them in 2004 at our home course chesdin landing

missed going to piedmont by 7 shots cant belive what 2 bad holes can do to you

I live in Woodbridge and I play all over the NOVA, DC Metro area. My good buddy Richy is the club champ out at Piedmont, and I've known the head groundskeeper out there quite a while, so I've played there a lot. Great track, too bad about all the homes they've built right on the course. I hate hitting it into people's backyards

West End of Richmond but moving to Chesterfield in a month or so. The only friend I have that plays lives in NJ so I really haven't played here since taking up golf last year. But I am sure I will start trying to find places to play now that the weather is good.

should give the first tee chesterfield a try, is a short par 66 and its a great course but every thing is still brown, a good place to work on short game, thats mainly what you need to play well on this course.

were and chesterfield are you moveing to

Yup, Rich Jr is one hellava player! I love the course, nothing too tricky, but must know how to place your ball!

I'm a member at Piedmont, but still play all over. Bristow Manor is a nice links style course that will give you a run for your money. I play these cousres also Heritage Hunt, Stone Wall, Dominion Valley,Westfileds, Reston National and Ever Green all good courses to play if you're ever in the area.

Quick question? I am moving to D.C next week and I'm wondering how is the golf in that area? I'm sure the courses are realy nice. But coming from San Antonio, where year around play is possible, how long can you play golf in the D.C. area?

Thanks

I've had times in which I've played year around, just depends on the winter. Where are you going to be located in the city or burbs?

Thanks,
Bradley

don't live in virginia, but was up in leesburg this summer and got to play lansdowne resort. only played the rtj course, the norman course wasn't open. really like the course and the layout. played 45 holes during my stay, and both times everyone in my group complained about 18, but i thought it was fun.

did tour the norman course, and its look great. hopefully i can make it back out and play it.

I went to high school in Virginia. We had our own course on campus that wasn't good, but it was a Donald Ross design. Luckily, our school has a lot of alumni in the Richmond area with connections and in a three year span we played our alumni match at CCV River Course, Kinloch and The Foundry.
On a side note, as long as there wasn't snow, we could play year round. It did get a bit cold in January though.

Oh yeah, I played in the Southern Am at the Cascades Course at the Homestead. That's my favorite course I've played in Virginia other than Kinloch, which is just sick

I used to play Bristow Manor a lot, too. The past few years it seems that ownership/management has constantly changed hands and the course wasn't cared for as it was in the past. I hope whoever has it now can take care of it, I enjoy the layout.

I agree the layout is great. A diamond in the rough! I can't believe a top notch company has purchased it and kept it up to par with the other public courses. I think that could definitly be one of the top public courses around.

Played on the Eastern Shore this weekend with a friend that lives in Virginia Beach. I was "RUDELY" introduced to the winds coming off the Chesapeake bay (20-30 MPH) while playing the Jack Nicklaus course at Bay Creek. There are some Hidden Gems in Souteast Va.....

Seems like we get a good day then two bad ones...or at least when I don't have to work! HA! I usually have to restrict my golf to a big 15 mile circle, though maybe I'll get a kitchen pass to sneak out a little longer than that! I like to play at Broad Run, Prince William CC, Virginia Oaks, and Quantico MCB.

Is it necessary to put together a Virginia GolfWRX outing?

Any interest out there?

We can set something up for a Friday/Monday at nice public track (hopefully centrally located to most), perhaps get a preferred rate for a decent size group...

What do you all think?

That's a foursome!

Can we get another?

Let's talk locations...

Where's everyone coming from? We can pick a point in the middle somewhere.

And include some dates that you can play...

Ok, I'll do my best to coordinate a VA GolfWRX outing. Anyone who's intersted, shoot me a PM with where you live and some 'general' times that woudl be good for you.

If we get enough interest, perhaps we can work out nice deal at a nice track....

So let's hear from you!
