The new course looked interesting on TV for the Nationwide event this past weekend.

Any truth to the rumor they are allowing some public play? Or is it strictly private?

Its private, I was disappointed to find that out because the course is awesome and i want to play it.

Nationwide didn't play it as it full potential from the tip.

They want to make it look easier and sell homes there.

Very hilly golf course with a very tough undulating firm greens.

ie: Hole #11...I've hit a driver barely made it to the green if they put the tee box all the way to the back on a windy day.

I've got some pictures during construction of the course and the designer "David".

I would venture to guess that they will allow limited play in the future. Based on the market conditions and new home sales, I'm guessing that home sales and membership sales are very far behind their original projections. They could make up a small amount through limited play to cover some maint/ expenses etc. Other new private courses in NorCal have gone this route.

The state of the economy and housing industry would also lead me to believe they would allow for some public-play.

However, I don't see any information for greens fees, tee-times, public availability on their website, so I am assuming it is hush-hush so far or not an option yet.

I usually don't watch the Nationwide Tour, but that course got my attention. Looks like it has some great views and just an overall interesting landscape. It would be great if they started taking daily fees because it seems like a golf course that anyone could enjoy.

went to the tournament on saturday. VERY undulating greens, almost putt-putt golf like (windmill anyone)? course was in great shape, thick rough, very tough fescue looking grass in some spots. the views are nice, but you are looking over the south part of the bay, the two bridges (san mateo and dumbarton) and hayward, with a speck of SF and the GG bridge on a very clear day (i couldn't see it saturday), not all that exciting.

I talked to a member, no public play as far as he is aware, but probably not too difficult to find someone that is a member, or have your pro call their pro and you might be able to get on?

as stated, the state of the economy is quite bad. there were many empty lots with utilities all ready to go, just no foundations or anything.

I'm playing there later this month, part of an NCGA (Northern Cal. Golf Assoc.) outing. Price was not too bad, under $150. Was looking forward to Mayacama (sp?), a toney Nicklaus course in Santa Rosa, but that's $325. Would love to play that, but will have to pass. I'll take some pics of Stonebrae.
