Picked up two tickets to Bayhill just now. Wondering if anyone can chime in with tips or advice on where to go or what to see. Never been to a tournament before so its all new to me. Will probably be going on Saturday to avoid some of the crowd on Sunday, or should we experience Sunday instead?
Thanks

Ive been to the he Wachovia Championship - now Quail Hollow Championship several times. I always like to start by watching the guys warm up on the range for a while and once the players start filling up the course move around between different holes. I cant stand to just watch them play one hole.
If you are trying to watch Tiger, be prepared to be disappointed. When he plays here you have to jump 3 holes ahead to get a spot and wait for him to play through because it is crazy how many people are at the tournament just to see him and could care less about anyone else. Enjoy it.

I am a big range rat at the tourneys... I love to see what the pros are playing and what they do to work out any flaws they are having both by themselves and with their instructors. But really the best time to sit on the range is on practice days and watching the club reps bringing players club after club to try out.
You will have a good time and will eventually figure out what you need to do and where to sit to get your money's worth. Just be prepared for the burning desire you will have after the tournament to get out and play some golf. I sometimes have a hard time driving home after leaving a tourney.

Thanks. I wasn't planning to be part of the Tiger Circus, though I would like to watch him swing once or twice. What things am I not allowed to bring? Phones cameras chairs etc?
No to all those. Although some tournaments will let you bring in a smaill beach type chair with no arms and no carrying bag. You can take binoculars if you have them. They come in handy if you are staking out a spot in one of the bleachers by the green and want to see who is on the tee, or watch someone in a different fairway.
I like to get there early when the gates open, and follow a few of the early groups to get a feel for the course, then find a great location to sit and watch all the groups come through. Wear comfortable shoes although not golf shoes. I've never understood people that do that. They say it's for traction from walking up and down the hills. My answer to that, see those guys carrying the 30lb bags on the their back, those are caddies. Look at their shoes, tennis shoes work just fine.

Friend of mine usually wears one of two shirts when we go to the Western.
First one says "My only goal is to hit my drives past the ladies' tees".
Second one says, "I know I'm getting better at golf because I'm hitting fewer spectators."
Main thing is have fun and be respectful.
