I love how the bottom of the Terra Firma works. I also like the style of it. Very classy looking stand bag. If I had Callaway's this would be the bag I'd get.

pitbull,

i was thinking the same thing. i might actually have a couple of cally's in the bag soon (maybe). have you seen the bag live?

my hoofer 3 has been pretty good, but i think the "old standbys" are going downhill.

Do not have the Terra Firma X1 however I have the Warbird XTT bag. Warbird is smaller, simpler, and lighter version of the X1.

XTT Stand System...
Think the XTT stand system is great. When the legs are deployed the bag is very stable. When the bag is stood on its base, the XTT stand base makes the bag very stable, no worries of bag tipping over.

Pockets...
The pockets are simple. The large main pocket does not have a problem holding my rain gear - Bucket Hat, DryJoy SS Windshirt, Dunning Rain Pants and rain gloves. Like having the valuables pocket inside of the large main pocket. Ball pocket is huge. Water bottle pocket only hold smaller bottles. Warbird and X1 bags have a detachable pocket off the large main pocket - going to have a Canadian Flag embroidered between the Callaway Golf emblem.

Top...
7 way top. Full length dividers for each compartment.

Carrying Straps...
Only weakness in the bag - IMO. Even then, it's a minor gripe. Prefer more padding in the carry straps and 4 point harness - like Ping, Sun Moutain and Ogio. Feel a 4 point strap system will make the bag balance better and more comfortable.

Overall, I think it is a good bag and the XTT Stand System is definitely a step in the right direction. Also have a Ogio 2005 Edge Stand Bag and prefer the Warbird to the Edge for carrying.

As an user of Ping Hoofer Extreme for over a year but since it's falling apart, I've been shopping for a new bag. Not long ago, Callaway rep was after me to buy a Callaway bag since I'm using Callaway irons and wedges. So when my club pro received his Terra Firma bag in black/yellow last week for stock, I've been thinking about getting it. But somehow I kinda feel that Ping Hoofer Extreme seem to hold more stuff than this Callaway bag. I'll check it out again tomorrow about the capability of storing raingear and etc in this Callaway bag.

Mike, I got to look at the bag more closely this afternoon but did not realize that there's two different Terra Firma bags. Doh me. :fool: The one at my course is Terra Firma X not X1.

As for this "X" bag, I'm afraid that it won't hold as much as the Ping Hoofer bags even though Cally bag might be lighter. There might be just enough room to store raingear in Callaway's big pocket. Ping Hoofer Extreme holds more junk for me.

But by looking at the pics on Callaway website, it looks like X1 seem to have more pockets & space to hold more stuff. The new stand legs activitation system looks neat though.

Bill, I actually aw the X1 yesterday. $200. It disppointed me for a $200 bag ... some of the pockets looked kind of tacky (e.g. the valuable pocket is just kind of slapped on there instead of concealed or at lest recessed). Also, deal breaker for me ... no full-sized garment pouch. Even the Sun Mountain 3.5 has that. I can't understand any big bag not having that.

I think I might try an Ogio with the new Shling carry system. The version with the full garment pouch actually has too much stuff (5.85 lbs.), but the Shling is supposed to carry easy and make the load seem lighter. Looks like a nice innovation.

POOR DESIGN!

Sorry, for me this design was a good idea, but in reality, it doesn't work. I will put it like this, the bottom of the bag (the portion that maintains 100% ground contact) is actually where the bottom of the clubs rest. Which is fine, until the legs are deployed that the bag is standing on its own. The problem is that is extremely hard to get the clubs out of the lower club holders (even worse than the Ping bags).

Just think of it this way.....imagine two cylinders on top of each other. Now tilt the top one at 30 degrees. This puts pressure on the side of the bottom cylinder. Not to mention, that a club cannot be put back into the bag (lower club holder) as the grip hits the top/side edge of the bottom cylinder.

I bought two (thinking that I must have had a lemon) and sent them both back. I went with the Mizuno GTO......GREAT BAG!
