Was planning on the US Open but now it looks like work might get in the way.
NEVER let work get in the way of your golf!
haha when you teach 1400 lessons a year it can happen. I'm working on it but it looks like I may have to hold of this year and just play some mini tour events when it gets slow.
Pub Links, Mid-Am... MAYBE the AM... it all depends on work and if i can get off to play these if i do them... but i plan on it, sometimes work just kills all your fun... lol
1.PA-Amateur Public Links Championship
2. Amateur Championship Qualifier

6. PRACTICE
7. PRACTICE
8. PRACTICE
9. PRACTICE
U.S. Am, Mid-Am, Public Links(since I dropped out of a club before Jan. 1st) and U.S. Open. Possibly a Monday Qualifier or two in late summer/early fall. Good luck to all!
us open - (maybe) may 18 at Shoal Creek
us publinks - june 23 or 24 at either ol' colony or Harpeth Hills.
us mid am - yes
us am - (maybe)
other state tournaments as well, need to look at the schedules.
They are only allowing 78 players at Shoal, I would sign up soon. It will probably fill up. I used to live in Bham and was going to play there, but I decided to stay close to home. I love Shoal Creek!

didn't know that. thanks for the heads up. I've never played shoal creek, but looking forward to it (if i get in, lol).
For an amateur where should my game be to reasonably make an attempt at State level Ammy events, not to mention National level? Base it on a handicap rating, 2, Scratch +2...?

Usually there is a cap on handicap eligibility (whether it be the USGA or State association)....such as a competitor has to at least be a 2, 4, etc - depending on the event.
Having said that, every dog has his/her day. A 4 handicap can just as likely go out there and shoot even, or 1 under and qualify. A little tougher when it comes to the US AM, as you have to do that for 2 rounds, unlike the 1 round qualifier for the Mid-Am.
I cannot wait for the mid-am, and hope my game is at its peak. My father is a member at the 2 private Kiawah Courses, and let me tell you that "spectacular" is an understatement when it comes to describing them. Two tough tracks!!!
-U.S. Open local qualifier at TPC Boston [ dont have any huge goals, but i figure its worth the $150 to play 2 rounds [ practice round + a tournament round ] at TPC Boston,,,but getting to sectionals would be my relaistic goal
-U.S. Publinks qualifier at Neshanic Valley GC in NJ... [course is sick]
- U.S. Amateur Qualifier at Wampanoug CC or Race Brook CC in CT
