I play the Pro V1x but i'm thinking that it's not a good choice.  I hit the ball in the 265 range on average and I swing the club 106 MPH with my driver on average.  What do you guys think?

I have a bit of an issue in the terminology... a ProV1x is a premum ball meaning it is a 4 piece and has characteristics to provide some feel around the green where a "distance ball" is just that it wont spin, it's more a "rock ball" so to speak...

Personally it would have been bettor had they done it with simply premium golf balls, or non premium IMO

here is the link i was able to dig up with the info
http://www.uintagolf.com/expert.html

EDIT: after doing some reading

Quote

1.  With only a few exceptions, the soft-compression, 2-piece balls designed for slower swing-speed-players DO NOT spin very well with any club in the bag. At least in part, this is why the balls go so far – and especially with the irons, they do go farther. The problem is that in order to score well, you need to hold greens and have a ball that can spin well with your short game shots.
   2. Do you remember how the 110 mph test revealed a 30-yard distance gap between the longest and shortest golf ball? Most of the soft-compression, 2-piece balls are a terrible choice for the faster swinging player – for both driver distance and iron play. You are absolutely giving up distance on your drives if you swing fast and play these golf balls.
   3. The high-end 3 or 4 piece balls really do perform with all of the clubs in the bag. You do not have to sacrifice distance or sticking your approach shots.

WTH, how can the V1X and HX pearl be so close in distance.  Isn't the HX pearl a ball designed for people with very slow swing speeds (70 mph) while V2X's are being played by tour pros with 110+ mph swings?

I have about the same swing speed and play the TM Blacks, but I might switch to the Reds to get some lower spin off the driver.

imho it depends on what you want out of a golf ball. are you looking for pure distance, or would you like some control around the green? also, do you keep the ball in play? if so, play a premium ball, if not, you may want to go with something less expensive.

1x has the best of both worlds there.   feel and distance.   good dispersion also.   the hx pearl had bad dispersion.

I hate to say it... but Nike One Platinum's have been working for me... the new vapor however no. The TourI is pretty good too.

yup and trust me.. I dont buy golf balls very often. Try maybe 2 dozen in the past 5-6 years. Plats were one of the dozen I purchased. I have a ball hocker within the family who supports me quite well.  (cool)
