I was watching the Turn, or The Approach, one of those talking head shows and they brought up a question I actually found interesting: Will Tiger one day return to claim victory in his hometown Tour event?

Woods hasn't had great success at this event as of late, to the point where he's more or less eliminated it from the schedule. I think the closest he got to winning was losing a playoff to Billy Mayfair back in the 90s.

I tend to think that Tiger with his acute sense of history, will someday return to the place where he first teed it up on the PGA TOUR as a skinny high school sophomore. Perhaps it will come toward the end of his career, but it's only fitting that his quest eventually brings him back.

Riviera is a classic course with lots of history in Ben Hogan and his great wins here. Apparently Tiger is not the most comfortable on this track, but then again we are talking about a golfer who has scaled unbelievable heights, who has accomplished just about every major feat there is (multiple times over). If there is one professional trophy missing from Tiger's CV, it's arguably this one.

Technically, not in a million years.

He has to play in it to win. He has skipped this event the last couple of years, although he certainly could not have played this year.

The tournament?? Considering that he skips the tournament each year and it doesn't fit his eye...I would say it probably isn't likely.

The course?? Will there be a major at Riveria any time in the near future?? That could change his perspective on how he approaches the course...

I voted yes, of course he would have to play there again. It's disappointing to westcoast golf fans that Tiger has limited his WC apperences to the Buick(how much longer now that they are no longer his bag sponser) and the Match Play the last few years. I hope his sense of history will prvail and he will start playng there again

So what you're saying is...Masters by 12, US Open by 15, 4 consecutive majors, Triple Career Grand Slam, 65 Tour victories plus more worldwide, no problem....

But winning against a regular PGA Tour field at Riviera?? Forget it!! Impossible!

IMO at some point, should he break the career majors and tour wins records, he'll still need to be challenged. Surely the LA Open is a tournament Tiger would like to win, and I'm sure that deep down inside it nags him a little bit that he doesn't have that trophy.

Its funny how golf works general undoubtedly the best golfer in the world can't win in his backyard The LA Open but can dominate down the road in San Diego area Torrey Pines. And a guy named Phil can dominate LA Open lately coming from San Diego area but not at Torrey Pines.

I guess Tiger could always ask Charles Howell III for tips LOL

If he doesn't like the course and doesn't have to play there (ie not a major) then he just won't play. Unless he has a very very good reason. ie Injury comeback, key to the city ceremony etc
