Going to Phoenix next week and I have a chance to play as a single on Monday. Was thinking of trying ASU Karsten since that is near where I'll be staying. Is it easy to walk-on for a single on a Monday? Any other suggestions for courses in the area for a single? Considered Papago but it is out due to the current course conditions mentioned in the other threads.

There are lots of places to play golf near Tempe and a walk on single should not pose a problem on a Monday. Karsten is not my favorite.
Will you have a car? What is your budget?
Papago is a great course, but I'm not sure I would pay the visitor rate right now.

Karsten is on www.golfnow.com now and you may be able to find a better rate on there. Either way should have no problems getting out.
Papago from what I have been hearing is not in all that great of shape especially the greens and for what they are charging for non residents you can get a much better course on golfnow. If you need to stay close to tempe the Raven at South Mountain would be a good choice.

Played Karsten a few weeks ago when I was in AZ. I really enjoyed the experience. Decent golf course, in pretty good shape. Not the best you will ever play, and far from the worst. Just a good, solid golf experience.
I would suspect you should not have any problems as a single walk on, unless that have a tournament of some sort. Might want to check that out in advance.

I spent my first 3 semesters there. Its basically where I learned to play the game, and it will always have a piece of my heart. Anyway, my sophomore year they started hosting a LOT of outings, and not just on Mondays. I would try and swing by on a Thursday afternoon and they would have the course taken by a 1:00 shotgun. Just make sure you call first...
