Found it odd to read that Adam Scott will represent Ashworth Apparel. Seems like an interesting move given the high priced look he had with Burberry. Ashworth is nice but not Burberry nice.

Believe I read somewhere that his "debut" with Ashworth will be in this week's tourney at Riviera. Should be interesting to see what they come up with for him. Agreed that he always looked very sharp in the Burberry gear.

This is quite interesting if true. Ashworth is owned by Taylormade. Wonder how Titleist take this?

I understand that he did not have much choice. Burberry is apparently dropping their golf line.

Ashworth has been making headway into the "younger" apparel lines based on what I have seen in the stores. I'll be interested to see what they put on AS in his debut. He is as big a "fashion plate" as there is on the PGA Tour, so he should be a pretty good billboard for them if the apparel is done properly.

As for AS's ties to titleist, there has been rumblings on the net about a pending move to TM at the end of the year. Not sure how much stock to put into it, but I do recall that Sergio was a titleist staffer back in the day with a clothing contract with Adidas. We all know how that turned out after the "player for player" trade involving Ernie Els moving from TM to Titleist, and Sergio leaving his titleist contract early to go to TM. Wouldn't surprise me to see AS make a similar move.

That's a move towards realism. I've never seen any Burberry retailers that offered even a 'whiff' of the threads Adam Scott wore. Great design on the threads but all just imaging. :busted2: Where's the beef (I've just been carbon dated)? w2

It will be interesting to see what Adam is wearing with Ashworth! I'm hoping that his new Ashworth threads will be "surf" inspired...

Greg Norman's clothing line is part of Reebok, which is owned by Adidas Group. I don't see him playing Taylormade.

A wise move. Getting AS into Ashworth could really boost their image. Some of my local retailers have stopped selling Ashworth because it is too trad and only older players buy it. A great pity as their Pima and Mercerisd shirts are second to none.

As for Burberry Golf I have never set eyes on it and from what I read is hideously expensive, like $150 for a shirt...

Greg was playing the TM ball and driver at his event in Naples FL

I cant agree more. I have access to Burberry as an account and I have called them asking about a couple things Adam was seen wearing. I was told they aren't available. He represents the brand, not the clothing line. A bunch of BS.

I'm supprised that Polo Golf didnt snatch Adam...but oh well. I'm kinda scared to see what he looks like with Ashworth....no comparison between Burberry and Ashworth...who knows.

Just hope we won't see Adam Scott in some of these polo shirts with short sleeves that goes to the elbow or even longer down the arm - it just looks ridiculous and too old out of style for a guy like Adam Scott.

I actually own a couple of Ashworth polo shirts, and they can really make some great shirts in high quality fabric, but they need to do something about their fit.

Look at the new young guy, who just won on the PGA tour recently - Nick Watney. Some of the polo shirts he wears just looks ridiculous and soooo out of style :stop:

Well put...I don't wear Ashworth or Norman gear because they fit like a parachute.

Hopefully Adam Scott will teach them how to make better fitting shirts.

Might have more to do with the fact that he is part owner in MacGregor . . . ;)

The Greg Norman collection was sold by Adidas after it acquired Reebok to MacGregor, which gave Norman a holding share in MacGregor. With MacGregor struggling to stay afloat, The Greg Norman Collection was recently acquired by The Tharanco Group.

Maybe TM will be buying Macgregor like another person reported on this forum and then Adam Scott will play Mac's. Or maybe not.

Ashworth launched a new line this year called ASHW 33 geared towards a younger audience, I imagine Adam will be wearing clothes from that line. They're said to be slimmer fitting and are made using performance fabrics. Actually a really strong play by Ashworth, launching the brand with Adam, provided the designs don't suck.

Could be a good move for Ashworth if the rumours are true. Since the halcyon days of the early 90s, they've slipped off the face of the earth in recent years. At one time, a bit like Aureus, they were absolutely everywhere you looked. Signing up a big name, particularly one who looks good and garners a lot of attention like Scott shouldbe a good way of getting the brand back into the public eye.

Hopefully Scott will stick with his familar understated classic styling and not become a fashion victim in bright colours and shirts that look like they've been borrowed from a 12 year old though.

Incidentally, Greg Norman played a bagful of Taylor Made gear for a while four or five years back.

I like Burberry stuff but not for golf. All there performance/golf shirts are like $150 and you can't find them on sale anywhere. I hope Adam Scott helps Ashworth get some better fitting shirts. lol

Correct! Adam Scott will not be connected to Ashworth while with Titleist!!!

Titleist threw a wrench into the deal. Ashworth was planned to be represented by both Adam Scott and Fred Couples. Fred has re-signed with Ashworth and now without Scott they will likely have a 2-3 younger TM players involved to represent the younger generation and Couples being their legendary icon.

There is also a rumour that AS hated all of the samples they sent him.

Is Adam playing this week at Riviera?

It is interesting that one sponsor can influence your other sponsorships. They are independent contractors after all. Perhaps the recent Peter Millar/Titleist partnership affected it.

Hugo Boss or Calvin Klein Golf would be good matches for AS.

I have seen some of the ASHW 33 and the stuff looks good. Much more modern cut and California styling. I think Ashworth was off for awhile, around the same time that John Ashworth was creating Fidra. I believe he is now back with Ashworth®
