The Golf Channel reported that with his victory, at age 19, he will become the 15th ranked player in the world. Impressive!

^^ i guess perry will go down though too. perry was 15 and won and mcilroy won and was 40. i think the dubai had a better field in all honesty and more WGR points should be given to mcilroy. jsut ym opinion. the kids good. hes my age too lol.

When the overall depth of the fields is averaged out, They are pretty even.  Dubai had more top 20 players, but FBR had many more players ranked overall.  The one thing the WGR does well is it tries to balance out points over time..Breaking into the top 20 is earmed over time..Not just because you had a good start...Kenny Perry has been on a tear for awhile now... His ranking is well deserved

He has a 100% Titleist bag, and is listed on the Titleist website as playing a Pro V1x

Just a small update on young Rory's bag:

So, today I've been watching the Irish Open today on Sky Sports, and it appears that McIlroy has changed putters again! Unfortunately I cannot find any pictures yet, but it does look like he was using a Scotty Cameron Circa 62 No.3 - I could be wrong but it did look very much like a Circa 62 No.3.

If it's the one where he's sporting a pink shirt, that was the Sunday of the '91 Open. He was playing Daiwa blades which, I think, were the old DG273s. Designed by/made for David Graham who was also under contract to the fishing rod manufacturers, er, Daiwa at the time, and named in honour of his winning total in the US Open back in 1981. They were a very thin-soled, square toed iron and IBF played a full bag of them to victory. Quite a rare find these days if you're after a set, albeit a similar set, the 8601s, are a little easier to find in decent nick.

Very nice irons - and a similar set were once used by a rather handy junior player called Tiger Woods by all accounts.

Is it correct that these Daiwas are actually cast and not forged? Decent sticks though.

Indeed they are cast - albeit quite a soft casting, from memory.

Anyone get to see what was in Rory's bag at Wentworth?
The Titleist website has him down as playing Zcom95 shafts in his fairways and a TK grind on his 60* wedge.

I wonder how up to date your information is, as the grips are wrong - he was using yellow multi-compound at the European Open last weekend. Quite obvious to see, therefore I wonder if you have the rest correct?

Yes I don't know how up to date that is but when he switched putters he did change it quickly.

Does anyone know what McIlroy played before he signed up with Titleist/Became pro? Did he play another brand or a mix of brands?

Rory played Titleist for some years as an amateur.

From what I remember he was a 660 man in his latter days as an amateur.
