Can we discuss the spine in DOCF a little more? That is one area I haven't been concentrating on and might need some advice. I'll copy a few notes from previous pages on extended spine:

"I suggest standing straight up in your stance. Go into a squat and as
you do you'll notice your head moving forward as your butt goes back.

Go into the deepest squat you can and you will find your spine angle.

Simply come straight back up pulling your core into your spine until

your knees are at the desired flex."

"The reaching for the sky over the

ball initiates a very dynamic move to counter balance with the arms

going in and the pivot of the legs. The arms have to stay in if you're

reaching out on the downswing....it also helps you sit down in the

takeaway and transition. I just found I can't create the movement I

want, without challenging my balance in this way."

Questions:

Is the extended (tall posture feel?) spine tension an important component to the resistance needed to counteract the takeaway move...preventing hands from going too far/low behind you?

Is the extended spine also important on the "downswing" to prevent the R side from collapsing, or something else that's important?

Here's some advice on your swing .Teach anyone who is willing to listen how to do it!

Most efficient swing I ever saw, or at least tied with Moe.

Hello All,
The reason so many people are fascinated with Ben Hogan's swing is because it seems so simple, repeatable and powerful. We all want that !
The reason that it looks and functions this way lies in his ability to make BOTH ARMS TO FUNCTION AS ONE AND TO SWING IN A "CONNECTED" FASHION. The first step to do this is to keep both elbows  pointing down in the back and thru swing and never feel that your arms are pulling away from your body. Once you get that then most other parts, such as the lower body respond to whats happening up top.
Cheers,
Ray

Martinez
Good video and nice post. Seems like your swing is rotational and the power is sourced from your big muscles. Much easier to repeat then throwing your arms away from the ball and hoping to reconnect them to your body on the way down !
Cheers,
Ray

...and thats the reason why a lot of people cannot play golf, trying to swing like Hogan when that swing is Hogans swing, not yours or mine.

Make sure you're pulling away from your left heel with your right side (Bow) and Turn your whole EXPANDED right side behind your left. A reverse pivot can only occur around a closed chest and compressed lower spine.
What a great swing thought!  It's too dark to go hit balls right now, but the feeling of expanding back is tremendous.  I can feel a tension in my left hip/leg that I've never felt before, (which I hope is a good thing).  I'll definitely have to hit the range tomorrow and try it out, but on video at my house (my wife thinks I'm crazy) the expansion feeling gives my swing a whole new look that I really like.

The slo-mo videos are forthcoming, folks...
Three swings, four speeds each.  This is the best quality I could get with the youtube file.  Enjoy!

Really nice golf swing !

Ringing in late but that turn back and through like you are doing is what Mike Austin had people do as a drill.  Have a rope anchored to something in the middle of your stance and pull back and forward.  Real similar to what you're doing Martinez

I finally found the video to purchase.

What is the first thing one can do?  The first quick thing.  All the promo videos and clinics say its easy to implement right out of the gate
