"I suggest standing straight up in your stance. Go into a squat and as
you do you'll notice your head moving forward as your butt goes back.
Go into the deepest squat you can and you will find your spine angle.
Simply come straight back up pulling your core into your spine until
your knees are at the desired flex."
"The reaching for the sky over the
ball initiates a very dynamic move to counter balance with the arms
going in and the pivot of the legs. The arms have to stay in if you're
reaching out on the downswing....it also helps you sit down in the
takeaway and transition. I just found I can't create the movement I
want, without challenging my balance in this way."
Questions:
Is the extended (tall posture feel?) spine tension an important component to the resistance needed to counteract the takeaway move...preventing hands from going too far/low behind you?
Is the extended spine also important on the "downswing" to prevent the R side from collapsing, or something else that's important?

Here's some advice on your swing .Teach anyone who is willing to listen how to do it!
Most efficient swing I ever saw, or at least tied with Moe.

The reason so many people are fascinated with Ben Hogan's swing is because it seems so simple, repeatable and powerful. We all want that !
The reason that it looks and functions this way lies in his ability to make BOTH ARMS TO FUNCTION AS ONE AND TO SWING IN A "CONNECTED" FASHION. The first step to do this is to keep both elbows pointing down in the back and thru swing and never feel that your arms are pulling away from your body. Once you get that then most other parts, such as the lower body respond to whats happening up top.
Cheers,
Ray

...and thats the reason why a lot of people cannot play golf, trying to swing like Hogan when that swing is Hogans swing, not yours or mine.

The slo-mo videos are forthcoming, folks...
Three swings, four speeds each. This is the best quality I could get with the youtube file. Enjoy!
