Played 36 holes today at The Golf Club of Amelia Island, and it was an excellent course. Not too long, not too contoured, and in very good winter condition. Unfortunately I played by myself, but it was an all around enjoyable day trip. Shot 81 on the first 18, 76 on the second. The course is only 6690 yards from the gold tees, but has a fairly tight front nine...reminded me of Harbour Town. The back nine is more open and you can let it fly on most holes. I was too tentative on the first 9 as I had no idea where, what, why, or how...gps and a yardage book still won't tell you everything. Got it figured out and lit up the back nine. I was looking at a birdie putt on every hole on the back except 18, which I trashed from the get go. The greens were very smooth but not lightning fast, the starter said they were running about 9. Three of the four par fives are reachable with a good drive...longest club I hit into them was a 4 wood. The course is located at The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island:

If you get the chance go over and play, it's quite enjoyable.
