Nike Victory Red Full Cavity Irons

- Full Cavity Design:
The deep full cavity design, moderate top line and sole width provide an optimal blend of confidence and forgiveness.

- Perimeter Weighting:
Mass is distributed to the perimeter of the club head to increase the MOI leading to enhanced distance and forgiveness on off-center hits.

- Contoured Undercut Cavity:
The undercut cavity is contoured to position mass behind the center of the club face for increased feel and distance control.

- Tapered Face Thickness
Face thickness increases from the topline to the sole to lower the Center of Gravity (CG) in order to optimize trajectory.

- Victory Red Grip by Eaton Grips:
Designed for maximum grip on the top half, and fantastic feel on the bottom, these grips will give you control and power shot after shot.

For some odd reason I dont see these cast game improvement Nike's getting the love that they should. Too much offset? Maybe. Too much black paint in the cavity, absolutely. I will definitely try them as soon as a Nike DEMO day appears in the spring....

I had a chance to try these at a big demo day by me in the Chicago suburbs over the weekend.
Overall, nice irons, but.... here's what I thought.
Pros: Good feel and balance. Very solid. Average distance. Nice ball flight, at least with all of the shaft options & Nike's select fit system. Nike people were great to deal with.

Cons: A set will cost you $700. A little steep considering this is a very basic cavity back irons with nothing really technical going on. Stock shaft was a little heavy for me, but then that can be changed. I didn't buy a set, even though the pro shop was giving a 10% discount on this day. Mostly because at $700 I feel like I'm paying for Tiger to get his car washed for a month.

Bottom line, if you're a Nike guy and need some forgivness, then the full cavities are a good iron. However, there are more irons out there at this price with alot more technology going on, see TM, Titty, Cally...etc. If these were 1-2 hundred bucks cheaper I'd probably go with them. Until then.... :drinks:

I just bought these and played my first round with them yesterday, they feel great and offer a lot of forgiveness with a good deal of workability. As for my 2 cents, they are great looking, going from an ex PING player and seeing what in the hell TM puts out every 6 weeks these are not too flashy but good looking enough to be proud to put in my bag. I also picked up the VR wedge and it is awesome.

Alright, I've got 4 rounds with these under my belt and feel I can give a fair review now. I'm a 15 handicap and steadily improving and was looking for a GI iron that didn't have a massive sole and huge offset. These caught my eye in those regards. I've hit the x-22's, the ap1's, the mx-200's, basically all the top companies GI irons for this year thus far.

The vr's just work for me. There are defiantely better feeling GI irons out there, but I'm sold on these. Again sole is generous without being obscene, the offset is the same. These set up well for me and are my favorite GI of this year. They are forgiving, have above average distance and a nice ball flight (on the higher side) for me. They are also very workable when the situation dictates and provide a little feedback when mishit. Overall a very solid iron, the only thing I don't like are the grips, to slick for me. I'd give these a thumbs up to anyone, I know there is more technology and feel out there but something about these work for me.

First off I am glad your like your new irons. You and another poster mentioned," more tech out there". Out of curiousity who's other sticks are you referring to and what are the Nikes missing in that dept?

I think the new burners with the different lengths have newer technology. The x-22's with the notch weighting and the ap1's with the dual cavity, just to name a few, all have "newer technology" Myself, I like these better. I don't know how much tech you actually need in an iron. I see technology being a definate benefit with drivers and wedges with groove technology, but irons, not so much, unless you have trouble making a decent swing and getting the ball airborne. If you look at these nikes, aside from the color they are pretty plane jane, but missing nothing in the performance dept. Again, I'm a 15 hdcp and two days ago shot a 78 with these my fourth time using them.

Alright so I thought these were a little pricey for the lack of technology. But I'm eating my words now becuase I just got fitted for a set last week. X-22's are nice, but have a generic uniflex shaft. Burners are nice to, but simply have stornger lofts than most(if not all) GI irons out there. These irons just work for me to. I'm not a Nike guy, never thought I'd buy a set, but it was the fitting system they use. Interchangeable shafts and heads. It sells the clubs. Nike rep said he had sold more VR irons through April than all others combined from last year. I also got $75 off this set thanks to the Pro Shop.

Victory Red Full Cavity irons are fantastic!
I had the Nike Slinghsot OSS for about 2 years, these irons helped my game alot as i started with them shooting in the 100-112 range, in that time i started to break into the high 90's on a regular basis but the irons provided no feedback. I decided to change to something with better feedback, and more workability as I am starting to be able to hit the ball with shape if I have to. Anyway these clubs are great at address, the weight and overall feel is fantasitc. Now i know when i hit the ball slightly off center, the ball still carries, and flys well even on off center hits, but i know now when i hit the ball on the sweet spot or not. These irons check up great on the greens, 175 yards out ball cheks up within a foot of where it lands most of the time , no more ball realeasing and rolling off the green. The feel of the higher irons, 7-AW, are exceptional. These are classic full cavity irons that you can get years of use from. You get some workability wth thesee compared to alot of GI irons, but the feedback has allowed me to shave 4 to 5 strokes off my game, because now i can set up address knwoing where on the club i need to hit the ball,a nd can tell if i execute. I could never hit a cut shot with my OSS slighsots, but with these VR full cavaites i can get the ball to cut if needed somewhat, Im not hitting cut shots and putting them 10 feet from the flag, but thats definitly not the clubs issue! Fantastic set of irons, these clubs are definitly a step up form the OSS slingshots and Nike Sumos, and compared to the Clalawys Ive tried and clevelands these are better. Just a great feeling iron! I got a set used once for $450 and the shafts feel good for stock shafts to me. YOur not buying hese irons if you shoot in the 70's but the mid to high handicapper starting to break into the low 90's to mid 80's these clubs are fantastic!
