This isn't a new revelation or anything but I just find it interesting that with all the millions Nike have thrown at Tiger for most of his career how come they haven't been able to cross the final threshold and get a big swoosh on his Bag?

I know Buick must be giving him a good deal for him to have had a Buick bag for so many years, I am also sure there are contractual agreements that depict what brandings he displays and where he displays them but a the end of the day he is surely the one calling the shots and must have at some point been asked by Nike to use a Nike branded bag and he would have had to say no??? Maybe Buick got there first and contraced him into the bag deal for X number of years?

Interesting...but then again, there's a swoosh everywhere else.

Especially on that ball that hung on the lip and then dropped in the Masters. Can you imagine what that's worth to Nike?

I'm sure Nike would love to have the swoosh on his bag, but he's already done more for Nike than Michael Jordan has, so I don't think they're complaining. I know his contract with Nike allows him to play any club he wants Nike or otherwise, so I wonder if that includes the bag. Nike accepted the same thing with Wie. No swooshes on that Sony bag.

How has TW done more for Nike than MJ? Eventually that may happen, but Nike tripled sales on the back of MJ. Sales are up with TW onboard, but not tripled. But hey, I'm not complaining either, Nike stock has doubled in 3 years.

No way, Jordan made Nike. They wouldn't even be in the golf game without MJ.

We tend to put our blinders on here, because we're all golf nuts. Golf is not nearly as popular a recreational sport at Basketball is. Not to mention, MJ has his own line of casual wear.

Nike is the #1 sneaker manufacturer in the world. Yet, they only have a toehold in the golf market, I think I read that it's only 1%!

Sponsorship money is paid for individual items. Players are drown and quartered and each piece has a price. Hat (front, two sides, and back), shirt (left chest & left sleeve), etc, are all different pieces that are 'sold' separately. Look at John Daly. He almost resembles a race car.

The Bag has nothing to do with a club or clothing contract. Usually it is a piece of the club contract, but some players opt to get separate 'sponsors' for their bag, like Tiger and Michelle Wie.

who cares about the bag. when you are watching a tournament what do you see 95% of the time? the player, not the bag.
