My new year's golf resolution is to get my ballstriking more consistent and my putting more steady. I am hoping to get down to a 5 handicap by years end as I am around a 7.5 now. Also, I am hoping to workout more often, without letting up at all and losing muscle content I had worked so hard for.
Work harder on my stretching.
Work harder on my short game.
Play 180 or more rounds of golf.
I will make no resolutions about my BST habits...
HAPPY NEW YEAR
I have numerous 2000 goals. They are:
1. Increase my workouts and become more flexible.
2. I would like to win a few tournaments this year.
3. Drop my handicap from a 1.3 to a +3.
4. Qualify for the LPGA or Durameds Tour during Q-school.
1) reduce hcap from 17.4 to "under 16"
2) spend less time and money buying equipment
3) play a round of 9 holes with my 2 kids for the first time
4) introduce 2 adults to golf
5) practice and play more often
im gonna keep the same one from last year since it worked...................im not going to keep score, made the game more fun, and apperntly im better now also, but i have no means of know for sure :P
Stop Hoing clubs (honestly who am i tring to kid)
Shoot in the 70's constantly/ 12 to 7 handicap (i know i'm really pushing it)
Play well in tournaments/ i suck in tournaments get to nervous...
Play to have fun.
I have a few, but the key golf resolution is to play then entire year with a single set of clubs...no tinkering, no new driver shafts. That, of course, doesn't include the putter! That'd be like saying I'm going to wear one pair of underwear all year...
1. Stop 3 putting
2. Making sure I play golf with a shirt on
3. Stop buying equipment I dont need
4. Not using beer cans as tee they damage the driver's club face.

you can achieve that resolution if you didn't wear underwear.....
-Break 80 and break 80 consistantly
-Keep up with my stats, so I know what to work on
My resolution for '08 was to break 90 and break 90 consistantly. I held a handicap of 92 at the end of October and shot several rounds under 90. My first two rounds with the new clubs(irons, wedges, 3wood) were 81-85, so I might hit this goal earlier in the year. If I just keep my stats this year I can fix what broke.
I would say more goals than resolutions but mine would be:
1) Spend so much time on the putting green I get sick of the site of my putter : )
2) Lower Handiecap from 6.8 to less than a 4
3) Shoot rounds in the 60's (Home course is par 72)
4) Make it into the final bracket at the Stuart Eisner Men's Open
5) Win at least one tournament
I resolve to spend time practicing my putting. Dropping my average putts/round will make the biggest impact on my game/handicap.
I can't keep pretending that the putting will come around without spending any serious time on it.
Get to single digit handicap index. That was my 2008 goal also and got down to 10.8 late summer. Currently at 11.6. I know I can do it. Also want to win more tournaments. Finally, something more subjective, I want people I play with to say, hey, that guy plays a really good game of golf. You know what I mean, some people you play with, at the end of the round, you really respect them.
- Become 100% confident with the club in my hand.
- Take no putts off
- Find a couple guys at my new club I can put a group together with
- Get cap down to 7 from 11.
- Practice with a purpose(tonight I only hit 4,5,6 irons with lots of emphasis on a low draw and high fade with the 4)
-drastically reduce my left miss with the long clubs (already making progress there)
-hole a couple more putts per round on average
-shoot a 75 or lower
-lower my handicap to 8 or better
- play at least 50 rounds (very jealous of you guys. The job and weather have made my personal best around 45)
- spend more time reading putts (biggest weakness is missing 10-15 footers)
- play at least 5 new courses (i generally average about 10-12 courses played per year)
hoping to become a plus player this year too. But that's not really a resolution. By playing more and making more putts that should do it though.
Play more than 3 rounds this year.. (2008 total 45 holes)
Are you serious??? You bought and sold all that stuff without playing 3 full rounds of golf? You are a bigger HO than any of us thought.
Yes,that is true. I didn't even have time to carry a handicap last year. I put my self in the back seat for the kids this year. Baseball, softball, soccer and gymnastics takes up a lot of time!!! But it is all worth it when you are there to see the first homerun or first goal!!!
- Practice 4 or more times a week
- Set up a program with my pro
- Don't lose my temper on the course
- Get my bag done before the new season and keep it for the rest of the year
- Don't wanna aim for a handicap, just gonna practice and play and see where it takes me.
