I can't believe how exciting 2009 will be! The contenders are just plain awesome. The Future Tour qualifiers plus the Q-school graduates as well as Shin, who has already won as non-member, ought to make it a real contest. The newbies will definitely give the current Tour leaders a real run for the money as well as world ranking. The American players are all aiming to qualify for the Solheim Cup team -- and have a real chance of making it. We will finally get to see whether M Wie is all the hype has projected. Snow cover and temps have closed the courses here. I'm into major golf withdrawal; last round was day of Presidential election. It was very painful when the clubs migrated from the trunk to the basement. Can hardly wait for January and the beginning of the new LPGA season. Then March and bit of "splat" golf as courses here open and us diehards get to roll in the mud.

I rooting for Vicki Hurst. She is a member of my club and a super nice girl! Awesome swing and hard worker.

She used to have plain Kangols. She signed with Callaway so now they will have the Callaway logo on them. She already was playing Callaway irons before she signed. I feel bad for her because I think she is head-to-toe and those Callaway shoes are terrible!

Just when she went pro, we had a fundraiser for her at our club. I think it was to help her with travel expenses, etc. It was a little dinner were you paid to eat and hang with her and they auctioned off some signed Kangols. She said thank you and gave all the money to junior golf so other kids would have the chance she had to start golf. She is just that type of person.

The first time i saw her was at Capital Hills in Albany (last stop of Futures tour). Anyway, we went for the practice day, I only went to see Kim Welch practice. KW was nowhere to be found. Vicky Hurst cruised past us in a golf cart and gave us a genuine smile and said hello. When i got home i found out she was leading the Futures Tour and was a lock to get her card. I was only able to go to the 2nd day of play...again, just to see KW. What do you know, on my way to the 10th tee (my friends were already there), VH and another gal was on the putting green (this green isnt accessible unless you're already on the course, so no one was around) and i walked past her...she smiled and said hi and i said hi and i choked...totally starstruck...couldnt even get an autograph or take a pic.

After the round, KW was also by herself sitting on the bleachers after her round, i didnt approach her either, cus the played like crap and i figured she wouldnt be in the mood to talk. I didnt find Leah Wigger's titleist that she hit in the bushes though.

Ok, that's my story.

SHin would have won it this year if she was even a tour member. I assume she is a "rookie" for 2009 and therefore a favorite. Picks 2 and 3 would be Wie and Hurst
