I was in the market for a new bag and really liked the adidas ascend bag (it was only $60). Once I took it home I looked at my irons and newly acquired Cameron and they looked plain and boring. I decided to give them an uplift. The Cameron is painted to match the bag. The iron #s were painted yellow to match as the emblems were already black and red. The wedges were totally redone as well.

The Cameron and the wedges were stripped bare and have a new gun blued finish. The sole of the Cameron was polished too much and the flash wouldn't take a clean picture. Without the flash was too dark. The Cameron grip was also touched up.

They're not working because you are linking them from a website that doesn't allow links, unless registered and logged in. Host them somewhere else like photobucket.

I guess we now have evidence of 'off season' projects.

Like the putter grip and sole.
Thanks for the pics.

They are the Golfsmith P2s with S300 shafts. I was playing a set of Ping Eye 2s that I absolutely loved but decided to try something different. I found these during the Friends and Family sale last winter at 40% off. I cannot express how much I like these clubs. The have a great feel to them. The only thing that I don't like are the 3 and 4 irons. They really have a tiny sweet spot. It you miss it you will feel it. I don't use those 2 clubs very often so it doesn't bother me.

I got that name when I was in grade school. I had family that attended MSU when I was little. We went to the Homecoming games every year for probrably 10+ years. I have always been a spartan at heart just didn't have the funds to attend.

Oh by the way...how did you go about stripping the charcoal mist finish, or was this the gun blue version originally?

P.S. --- Wisconsin ?! :cheesy: In all honesty though, that was a fun football game to be at this year.

Stripping Finish
I washed the wedges and putter in warm water with dish soap. Then I soaked them overnight in Coke (it must be Coke, Pepsi or RC Cola doesn't work the same way). Then I washed them again with warm water. The wedges I had to scuff up with steel wool as they had a Mist type finish. They turned out alright.

Applying the Finish
I bought a bottle of Perma Blue at WalMart. Followed the instructions.
1. wash with warm water
2. apply blue and work it in for 1 minute
3. wash with warm water
4. scuff with steel wool (I used 0000 steel wool)
5. wash with warm water
6. Repeat steps 1-6 until you have the desired color/finish

Paintfill

I had a very hard time getting the original paint off the clubs. The OEM uses some good paint apparently. I soaked with acetone and picked away with a sewing needle. It was very tedious. I did this BEFORE applying the gun blue finish.

I went to the local farm store and purchased some veterinary needles (like the ones used for insulin shots). I cut the tips off and that was my applicator. Stick the needle tip in your paint and suck it dry. I used toothpicks in the past but it was very messy and a pain to go back and clean up the overfill. I used Testors brand model paint but it was a different model name (the larger paint bottle for models with black label). I really liked the stuff. It went on smoothly and dried really well. The only problem that I ran into is this paint takes a lot longer than the average model paint to dry. I used acetone to wipe away any overfill (hardly any after using a needle).
