Lin wen tang in the trees on the left, absolutely no shot whatso ever. Just took a massive swipe with a wedge to just clear a large pond and grenside bunker on 18 an ran upto 6 feet which he rolled in to match rory's tap in 3, Mollinari took four after a terrific second shot and was eliminated. 18 again and 2nd play off hole, Rory ended up just in the trees on left on the edge and hit a big swinging hook with a wedge which pitched all the way to 14feet, sweet shot. Then Lin wen tang casually "stiffed" his appraoch and after rory's putt slid agonisingly by he tapped in for his first ever european tour win. His caddie probably earned about ten yeras salary in one day! So happy for both Lin wen tang and his caddie, but really sorry for Rory. Also can't not mention Oliver Wilson, the guy keeps coming runnerup, however 3 bogeys on the trot seled his fate as he fell away!
i just saw some highlights on tv, and i take it back!
lin most definitely won that, and i must admit i worded my previous post wrongly, i had meant to say that it is the second play off that rory didn't win
I like Oliver Wilson as player, and I only wish him the best. But the way he imploded on holes 15 to 18 in the last round was somewhat consoling for all us average amateurs out there.
Total (accumulated) length of putts made for pars by Bernhard Langer in the last round: roughly about 3 feet. It must have been excrutiating.
That play off had some of the best and most ridiculous second shots I have ever seen. It sucks for Rory but I think he is going to have a great next year.
I couldn't agree more, some great shots in the playoff. I just checked the world golf rankings and Rory is at #50. I like the fact that Rory keeps a low profile and lets his game do the talking.
