I am going on my first ever golf trip to Hilton Head in early December. What are the things that I definitely have to take with me on a golf trip.
Thanks in advance.

Your clubs.
Just have everything planned out with what you are doing every day. You can deviate from the plan, but without, you'll waste time trying to find something to do. Knowing what you're doing and when you're doing them will lead to more fun things to do besides golf.

Golf trips are great. The hard part is if you run into bad weather...b/c you "must" play- since you'll probably be wall-to-wall golf.
First and foremost: bring 1 American Express card, and 1 Visa card. In a pinch you can buy what you didn't pack. Cash - for tipping and sometimes you go to places that don't take plastic.
Golf stuff:
Rangefinder and 1 extra battery - it will speed you up since you're playing new courses, and the battery is needed b/c of Murphy's Law.
Hot Hands (hand warming packets) b/c it does get cold in the winter mornings
Extra gloves
Extra pair of shoes (if you play in the rain, your shoes might be wet even by the next day - so you want to have a dry pair)
Sunblock
Advil
Golf umbrella
2 large Ziplock bags
**Long pants
**Sweater vest
**Rainsuit
** - pack them if you have them; or prepare to buy them if necessary.
Have a great time!

Tape and bandages in case you are not used to playing that much golf back to back.
Deck of cards for killing time and picking teams/making bets etc.
Tons of extra socks, change socks for each 9. It will keep your feet from wearing out fast.
Something to take the bite off in the early morning rounds.

All the stuff you use during a round a golf times 2 for each day of golf planned! 2 pair of socks for each round, two pair of shoes in case of bad weather and succesive rounds, bring 4 gloves, if you use an offbrand ball that is not in most proshops bring enough for twice the # of rounds planned (it's new courses so unknown hazard play), check the weather to determine your outerwear needs and assume it will be worse than forecasted.
Pro shops or local golf shops carry most everything else for the golf part otherwise be flexible and enjoy!

GPS unit for the car. I have taken one of these on my last two golf trips and it has proven invaluable in not only finding the courses but also in finding restaurants and bars afterwards. We would simply ask the bag guys/bar tenders/parking attendants where the good spots are and then plug the name in the GPS and go check it out. Sure beats relying on questionable directions and driving around for hours.
