Guy's got a serious, serious problem. Too bad, I'd love to see him back on the course in top shape but it looks like we'll probably never see that again.

What a shame.

The guy is certifiably bat-sht crazy.

He hasn't dug himself so deep that he could never get out (given all of his resources), but he's not doing himself any favors. He simply has too many people enabling him.

Maybe Roger Goodell will suspend him!

KIDDING!

I just really am incredibly disappointed. If you have to drown your sorrows, do them in your own house with your own booze. This is just awful for him and for golf. I'm officially off the Daly Bandwagon.

The Golf Channel got him on the phone for a quote and
all he would say was that he wasn't arrested for anything.

Sad to see someone with the talent to win two majors in this game go to waste like that.

man, i really like JD. Ive always been a fan of his. he has sooooooo much talent. if he would've worked at it and taken golf seriously, he would've been one of the best of the best imho. huge drives, soft hands... man, i wish i had half of his talent.

WINSTON-SALEM N.C. (AP) — Golfer John Daly was taken into custody Sunday morning by Winston-Salem police after he was found drunk outside an area Hooters restaurant.

Police said in a statement Wednesday that said officers went to the restaurant on a medical call. When they arrived, Daly was being treated by emergency workers after losing consciousness.

While at the restaurant, police said Daly "appeared extremely intoxicated and uncooperative," refused repeatedly to be taken to the hospital and was asked to leave the restaurant by several workers.

Daly was taken to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center for a 24-hour stay, until he was sober.

Guys, this is no laughing matter. I had someone very close to me struggle with alcoholism and ultimately died from it. We need to forget about John Daly the golfer and pray for John Daly the human being.

Sorry if I upset you JD fans out there but I've always thought John Daly was a real piece of work.....and not in a good way.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets tired of his constant media circus train wreck behavior. He's not a professional golfer anymore folks. And never will be again....

The best thing that could happend to him as a human being would be for his sponsers to drop him forever and all pro tours ban him for life. Maybe then he might admit he has serious health issues and get some help?

it's definitely obvious, if it wasn't before, that alcohol is the most important thing to JD. i think we are beyond chalking these repeated incidents up to him just being a "normal guy" that likes to have some beers with the boys. the guy needs some serious help. didn't JD say before he was all right if he just stuck to beer? he is so full of excuses which is just a classic case of an alcoholic.

I think this latest incident is 100% Butch Harmon's fault, or his ex-wife's fault, or your momma's fault.

JD is a WONDERFUL guy and a great ambassador for the game. I think he should get MORE sponsor's exemptions! :clapping:

LOL

I hope every tournament on the PGA tour heard about this one maybe they will wise up.

You guys realize this guy has pissed away more money than many of us will ever see.

Let me make one point though he was never as talented as he was streaky I bet his whole career he missed half the cuts

Maybe worse As far as the Champions tour dont know what status he will have but doubt he will ever play on it.

I don't watch much of the Champions Tour, but I'll watch it even less if that clown is given exemptions. LOL

Funny thing, in my earlier post I listed all the people at fault for JD's latest "situation", and when I named the Democratic nominee the WRX site automatically changed it to read "your momma". LOL

He needs more than prayers, he needs help.

I used to just feel sorry for him. I used to think, oh well, he's throwing away a promising career. I no longer think that. He actually gets me a little angry.

There are soooo many talented players out there that would love to have Daly's opportunities. If JD is not going to avail himself of those opportunities he needs to step aside so someone else can. The only reason he keeps getting sponsor's exemptions is because he draws a crowd which makes the sponsor money. Those exemptions should be going to a golfer that wants to make something of himself but maybe hasn't had the chance yet, or had a bad streak and needs a way in to make a comeback. Sadly, that is no longer JD.

And us, the fans, are deprived of the opportunity to see someone who is grateful for the chance to play go after it one weekend and kick some butt.

As a former fan of JD, I feel short-changed. I feel let down. My kid (who plays some pretty good golf) was even a JD fan because he was impressed by how far he could hit his drives- he even had a little disappointment on his face when he saw the latest news. Thanks JD.

Has he hit rock bottom yet? Hard to tell. If I'm correct he still has Hooters as an endorsement (correct me if I'm wrong). Ahem. I'm guessing that contract is short-lived now. I think he needs to lose everything before he finally decides enough is enough and gets help.

IMO, anyone who supports him is just empowering his denial.

Whether you like it or not Daly has earned his sponsor exemptions. There is a reason you don't get them.

How is it bad for golf when a washed up golfer, who isn't on the tour, gets thrown in the drunk tank. The dude is sick and needs some help. You think golf doesn't "deserve" this, please....

Your momma is too funny....

Will his 10 million in career winnings even be enough to get him into the Champions Tour?

I don't really like Daly and in general think he is a disgrace to the game but I consider this a non-issue/story. He drank too much one night. Who among us hasn't had one too many once in our life? I bet you somebody gets cut off from hooters every night of the week. He's famous and it makes the news. I agree that he wasted his talent, but I didn't really lose any respect for him on this one.
