I was laying up on the final hole, par 5. I missed just left of the fairway in some heavy rough about 100 yds out. Grabbed my pw and really went after it, ball pops straight up in the air and lands about a foot forward of the original spot. There was a big clump of mud on the visible part of the ball. Had a little better lie so knocked a sw on the green. Drove up to the green and see four ball sitting on the green (playing in a threesome). I walk up to what I thought was my ball on the back right of the green, nope that's not the ball I'm playing. So I walked to the front left where the other ball was, yep it was my original ball. weirdest thing that has happened to me on the golf course in a long time.

So I took my two stroke penalty and laughed about it the rest of the day.

better a two stroke penality than it landing on your head IF it came from above :-)
