I'll show my ignorance here and ask for a little help in figuring out what this "tether" is (see red arrow below) on the Bennington Quiet Organizer.

This is my first cart bag, as I've always had stand bags. I'm dying to know what it's used for ... that is, if it even has a specific use.

Many thanks!

I'll bet it's to keep the top of your umbrella secured.

I have a tether like that on my stand bag and I was mystified what it was for until the first day I put an umbrella into the umbrella holder. Then it all became clear. the umbrella won't stay unless the handle is tethered in!

Interesting ... but I guess I'm a little confused by the umbrella theory. Does the umbrella go handle up into it and the tether is tightened around it? There is no other spot for an umbrella so that makes some sense.

Any other thoughts? I had an initial theory (that I'll reserve for now).

My Titleist Bag has a tether like that and the umbrella handle goes up while the tip goes in a little holder at the bottom of the bag.

And it's a good place to keep gloves.

That's a nice looking bag!

Ah HA! Yes, that's definitely it. Upon closer inspection, half way down the bag is a sleeve that is clearly meant to hold an umbrella and, at the bottom, is a little ring for the tip of the umbrella. Excellent! Thanks so much for the help.

I think so, too. I got it on ebay and it just came today. I had heard so many good things about it (it's a Bennington Quiet Organizer 10), I had to pick one up. Here's a couple other shots of it:

It's for a towel. I have a similar one on a bag and didn't know what it was for but lickily mine had a tag on it that explained it. Put your towel half way through and scrunch that thing down on the middle and you have a handy dandy towel holder.

Not a bad use either, but on further investigation, I think some of the previous posters had it right about the umbrella. The location of the ring at the base and the sleeve below that tether have me confident that's what it's for.

Thanks!

Another option, and what I would use it for is to hold your rain jacket!
