I'm not trying to stir up a "Tiger vs. everyone else" debate and I know you can "what if" til you are blue in the face..... That said, does anybody believe that Tiger would NOT have won this tournament by 6 shots even if he played mediocre golf? Vijay's putting was horrible from 4-10 feet (I think they said he was 8 of 18 at one point from that range), Westwood's chipping was so bad that at one point he putted from 20 feet off the green and Phil hits it all over the track when it really matters. I thought yesterday's display of golf was pretty pathetic and that none of them really deserved to win.

PS - I'm not a tiger lover or hater but let's say that I WAS kind of excited about the opportunity to hear some other stories for a change since Tiger is out for the year. He had to be sitting at home laughing if he was watching that event!

Just my .02.

I was thinking the same thing but like the above poster said, they have over 60 wins between them. Just the way it is in golf sometimes.

Tiger blew a two shot lead over the last two holes at The Masters a couple years ago. It happens to everyone.

"Closing" a tourney out when you are in the lead is much more difficult than Tiger makes it look. I've done it a couple times and looked awfully like Vijay, praying the putt would NOT miss!!
This just ought to put in proper perspective how good Tiger is and how good Jack really was when coming down the stretch!

Maybe they can close, but nobody was doing a good job of it yesterday. Phil had a great chance to win but stymied himself with bad tee shots, and definitely made a questionable move by hitting driver on the 17th. Vijay not only missed a bunch of short putts, he wasn't even scaring the hole! It was amazing to watch a player win such a big tournament with that kind of putting. He had two putts from like 30 feet to win and he even managed to make that a tense situation. Even when he did manage to make a putt it was barely, they were dribbling in from the side of the cup and what not. I don't usually like the guy but I laughed pretty good at Feherty's take on the situation: "We're going back and forth between World Championship and club championship."

Funny topic....as if TW has not had problems closing? For a world beater clearly better than anybody on tour, he has had his fair share of winning ugly.

I know TW owns Firestone, but it doesn't take away from the fact it is still a tough course.

let me be clear, I'm wasn't trying to say that what they were trying to do is easy. I certainly wasn't comparing them to myself. Yes, they have 60+ wins between them. All I was trying to say was that none of them did a very good job of closing it out (even in absence of TW) yesterday. The opportunity was there for a fantastic finish, but I sure thought the end was anticlimatic....

I felt like KGB in Rounders......."so unsatisfied".....

I just think Tiger has made it look so easy for 10 years that anything short of what he does on a regular basis make the rest look sloppy.

This weekend was the norm. Tiger (and a handful of others) have been the exception.
