My business partner and our families are heading to Monterey to play in the Lexus Champions for Charity tournament in mid-December and we need a place to rent for the week of 7-14 December. We will be playing Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill over a three day period (yippee) and want a central location where our families can enjoy a comfortable stay.

We need at least 4 bedrooms and a reasonably large house where four adults and four children could live for a week. Can you recommend a reputable service or real estate company I can contact to rent such a house? Do you know of someone (maybe yourself) that has such a house available during this period? We are highly accountable and responsible people who will take great care. We have, I believe, budgeted a realistic sum for accomodations for the week. However, I would be interested in budget feedback from anyone who has actual experience in renting a vacation home in this market.

Can you make any other recommendations that will make our stay fun? Besides the great golf, we are looking for things to do with our families and activities our wives and kids enjoy while we are on the golf course. Thank you for your interest in helping us enjoy what promises to be an incredible vacation.

Growing up in the Monterey Area, I can say it depends on how much your budget allows. If you are looking for a house i would do a google search for Rental Homes in Monterey and Carmel. I am sure some Management Companys will pop up. There is also the Embassy Suites in Seaside/Monterey Area that accomodates families but a little far from Spanish Bay. Good luck...

Stick to Carmel, Monterey, or Pacific Grove so you don't have far to drive to the courses and the activities are near the family (Monterey Bay Aquarium, Dennis The Menace park, Cannery Row, beaches, paddle boating on Lake Elstero, Pacific Grove lighthouse, (sp)..).

PM me if you'd like more family suggestions as I was born and raised there as well as go back to visit all the time.

I would highly recommend going to Passionfish restaurant in Pacific Grove on the corner of Lighthouse and Congress. I have been to every high dollar restaurant in the area, The Tap Room and Club XIX in Pebble and Roy's in Spanish Bay, and many others. Passionfish is half as much and has the best food in the area in my opinion. I would also go the the aquarium too.

Thank you all very much for your kind recommendations. I found a service www.montereyrentals.com that is meeting our needs. We will be staying in Monetrey about 1/4 mile from the beach. This is going to be sweet.

I'll remember the Passionfish for dinner. Hope its not too hawty as we will have 4 kids with us.

if your kids are old enough to play, make certain you take them to play the back nine at Pacific grove. $ 25 bucks and 7 holes are right on accross the street from the ocean.
also, if you have an extra family day, make certain you make the drive down to Big Sur to see the redwoods.
enjoy your stay.

Kids won't be a problem. It is where the locals go. I have taken my kids in there, 5 and 8, numerous times.
