Pre- Tournament Expectations?

He's the number one ranked player in the world. He has more money than he'll ever be able to spend. Do you think he cares about finishing anywhere other than the top of the leaderboard? If he doesn't win, he's probably actually losing world ranking points. Also, he only plays the game of golf to win tournaments and, most importantly, majors. Did you actually wonder what his expectations were?

Yes I wonder what his expectations are. If you polled the field each week how many would say they can win the tournament? The answer is everyone otherwise they would not be there and anyone can win. How many are actually thinking I am doing good if I make the cut? How many have a goal of a top 5 finish? Top 10? Top 20? Chances are if you are in the top 5 starting on Sunday you are in a position to win. Mr. Woods does not win them all in fact just more than 27%. He knows he can’t win them all (although he tries) so my question is: what do you believe Mr. Woods’s personal goal is when he arrives at a tournament? To be in contention? Top 10? What?

I really do not believe anyone knows what Tiger Woods is thinking. Even if one of the top players did they would win more tournaments.
Personally I have and opinion of what he is probably thinking based on what he is saying.
I do not think the cut enters his mind I think he goes to every tournament thinking about what he is going to have to do to win.
How he needs to play the course , what part of his game he needs to work on. I think Tiger thinks a whole lot more about the process than he does the results.
Most of all I think it is just what he always says he wants to do whatever he has to so that come Sunday he has a chance to win.
I think Tiger plans for success by the work he does.

Every knows what Tiger is thinking. He wants to win. Golf psychology isn't a secret - the hard part isn't knowing what to think... it's consistently thinking correctly throughout 72 holes.
I don't know how many mental mistakes Tiger makes in a given tournament- but I would guess around three or four, at least (yes that many).

Are you guys serious? Top 20? Making the cut is ok? Tiger has stated his whole career that anything short of winning is not good enough. I'll promise you that he has never one time been satisfied with a top 20.
Wow, i'm sorry i didn't detect your sarcasm in the first post, no need to cut my head off for it. I never said making the cut was ok for tiger, i said at worst he is going to make the cut.
