While I love my R5-N, 9.5* with an Accra T60 shaft..........

The R7 460 is absolutely the best driver I've ever hit. It has a marvelous combination of forgiveness, a super-hot face, and very very good distance. I was also very surprised by the REAX shaft - I typically do not like Taylormade's OEM shafts, but this shaft felt smoother, and more accurate. This club was the absolute pinnacle of what a driver should be - a great combination of feeling, forgiveness, and super-hot distance.

As soon as the price drops - it's MINE. I hit/demo everything on the market, and this is the pinnacle of drivers right now.

I agree totally - i own both the 'R7 425 TP' and the R7 460 and while the 425 Tp is more workable and also pretty forgiving, Í give the notch to the R7 460 when it comes to overall forgiveness in a driver.

This thing just bombs out in the fairway........and you don't even have to hit it in the center of the clubface - misses still goes very straight and long :idhitit:

Well I got the whole shebang of the new 2006 line of TaylorMade equipment after piling up everythiing I don't use and trading it all in at the local Edwin Watts. $2,500.00 later I walked out with:

R7 460 9.5* with the ReAx shaft Stiff
R7 Ti 3 wd
R7 Ti 5 wd
TP MB 3-pw

Went to the range this morning and heres the report on the R7 460 since this is the driver forum.

First off I'm a +3 handicap player and play alot of mini tour and GA PGA tournaments and was a little curious at how the R7 460 would suit the more accomplished player. I LOVE IT!!!!!! I did move the weights from heavy toe/light heel (for a draw) to light toe/heavy heel (for neutral). The ball explodes off the face, flew very straight with a high launch angle and carried almost consistently 290 to 300 on the fly. The stiff ReAx shaft was very stable and from being used to a 65 or 75g shaft I was very surprised at how well it held it's flex point being only a 60g shaft.

Verdict: $349.00 is a little higher than some but $349 reasons to go buy it. After all - gotta feed that monkey.

Great driver!!!!!!!!!! I just demoed it. It hits high bombs. If you are a low ball hitter like me, you could benefit from a driver like this. It is extremely forgiving, as forgiving as any driver I've hit. I didn't hit any shots off the planet with this driver. I wish they made a tp version of this club so that I wouldn't have to look at the shut face. If I bought this club, I would definitely shim it to square and rat glue the head to take away the tinny sound. It is a little big lookig but I quickly forgot about that after I saw how high and long I hit it.

I hit it last weekend and LOVE it. A friend demoed one from the local golf shop and had it out on the course. 10.5 degree, Regular REAX shaft.

Like golfchicago pointed out, if you are a low ball hitter and you want a higher ball flight this is the driver for you.

I can't seem to hit my G2 very high at all, but with this club I get that really high ball flight. Plus the r7 is much heavier than my G2 thus allowing me to get that higher ball flight. While the face of the r7 is a tad closed, it isn't as closed as my G2.

Needless to say my G2 is now on the Bay and a new R7 should be in my bag in a couple of weeks. Especially now that the r7 460 can now be had for $299 plus shipping off of Ebay. I think my days of hitting low drives are just about over. The only thing I might change from the demo I hit would be to go down to a 9.5 degree instead of the 10.5 that I demoed. Hopefully the ball flight won't be effected that much.

I had an r7 Quad, but never really got comfortable with it. I was playing a 580 XD and after cleaning out a closet and realizing I had a bunch of old clubs that were just taking up room, I decided to see if I could get a trade-in and upgrade to the r7 460. Went down to my local Golf Galaxy and got enough of a trade-in that I only had to pay $40 cash...plus, taking advantage of TM's special offer, I got a r7 3-wood free!

Well, I took the driver out to the course on Sunday and all I can say is WOW!!!!! Longest driver I've ever hit. The ball comes off the club face like it was shot out of a cannon. I had it set for too much of a draw, so I need to adjust the weights, but I am more than happy with this driver. Miss-hits are no problem at all, this club is so forgiving. And the RE*AX shaft is tremendous, like getting an upgraded shaft for free...

I picked this Driver up today and went straight to the driving range with pitbull808. I have to say....Holy S**T!!!!!!! I LOVE this driver. It is so easy to hit! I had a R5 and was hitting that pretty good, but I am amazed that I hit this driver much better! Of course this may be beginners luck, but the ball flight and the distance seemed to be a whole lot better and my swing speed hasn't changed at all. I will find out tomorrow when I go to play, but I feel the confidence in this driver! Ok...did I say I LOVE this driver? LOL :yahoo:

This is the first MWS Taylormade driver that i have liked, i must admit that it is very forgiving and ranks up there with most of the longest drivers i have hit, and surprisingly workable for its size. I would say that the 460 TP is a very good driver and worthy of all the hype.

I just got my R7 460 TP with Diamana 83. Gives a nice mid boring, penetrating ball flight. This definetly outdoes my old setup (R7 quad TP with Diamana 63) in terms of distance, and feel.

Just used for the first time today. Taylor Made R7 460 10.5, Rombax 75 Stiff shaft. Setup for neutral. I have a 95-100MPH swing speed and love this club.

Not the longest driver, but is very forgiving. I like the high ball flight and feeling of control.

I just got a 9.5 460tp and all I can say is WOW. This is the most forgiving and longest club I have hit yet.
Went to a Taylormade demo and hit it and fell in love with it right on the spot. Perfect launch monitor numbers for my swing and a great solid feel with the Diamana 64 stiff shaft. Played with it Saturday and hit 14 fairways and if not for a couple of dumb short iron and chipping mistakes would have shot my best yet.
Huge difference in the TP vs the non TP in feel and ball flight for me. My 425 and R5tp are off to the market place now!

I hated it. Can't it straight to save my life. I didn't find it forgiving.

I have only been playing golf for two and a half years. I did not use a driver my first year; so the only drivers I have played before the 460 are the: Callaway 454, Callaway Fusion, and the Ping G5. I played at least 10 rounds plus range time with every one. The Taylor Made is the best of the bunch.

The Ping is comparable for forgiveness. I think the 460 and G5 are pretty much even in this category; but the G5 with a 9.0 degree loft and stiff Graffaloy shaft ballooned a little. The stock stiff Taylor Made shaft seems to fit my swing better.

There is one hole in particular that I use to judge my driving distance on; it is 340 yards uphill. The hole plays closer to 360. My best drive, with the Ping, ended up right at the 100 yd marker. I have hit several drives inside that marker with the 460 and had a best drive that was 10 yards inside the 100 yd marker.

That is a best drive of 270 considering the steep uphill shot. I am not one these guys who talks about hitting a golf ball 300 yards. I hit 250 when I catch them consistently. My swing speed is 102 to 106 and I have never had a problem with launching a golf ball. My problem, as with most beginners, is getting the ball to go straight.

The 460 helps me keep em straight and at the same time it gives me the best bang for my buck. The extra 100 dollars it cost over the Ping may not seem worth it to some; but for me, it is. I plan on keeping this driver for quite a while.

After a season of drooling over my Dad's R7 460, I finally got my own when he decided that he needed to go from Regular Flex 10.5* to a Stiff Shaft 8.5* R7. I have been to the range with it once and golfed 18 holes with it once. Personally I think it's a pretty nice club. Before that I was hitting a Taylor Made R360XD driver, which I also liked pretty well. My only gripe with the R7 is the tinny sound that you get when you make contact with the ball. Other than that I really like this driver. I am a very high handicapper (average round about 105!) who has only been seriously golfing for about 2 years. This club added a few yards to my drives, however the main thing I like about it is the forgiveness. Mishits still went pretty straight, and I only sliced it once, and even then it was much less of a slice than I was typically hitting with my old club. I am really looking forward to getting more comfortable with this driver, but I am very impressed thus far.

Moderately forgiving head but had issues with too much spin and ballooning shots out on the course. The club was long when the wind was working in my favor though.

Love this driver. I had to switch out the shaft to a Comp NT b/c I didn't like the Reax shaft being offered. The launch angle was awesome. My distance has been maxed and I love it.

My next move will be to a SuperQuad but I see that happening in about 8 months to a year or so once the price goes down. Generallt very happy w/ my R7 460.

The LEFTY TM R7 460 - is without a doubt has been the best fit for me, for the past few years. I have a stoock 9.5 w/. an ACCUFLEX ICON V2 (X).
I have always been over avg. on distance, until around a year ago ..i had Spinal fusion surgery. well, a year and a half later....i finally have my S.S. back...I'm killing this combo....I've hit all the new stuff ,which is good stuff.,BUT doesn't come close to my R7 / 460....

For those of you who are experts with the TM R7 460 and have experience a variety of shafts. what works wells with maintaining a low sping and good trajectory. My ss is between 112-118.

I had this driver for about 2 months, it was pretty much hit or miss, I never could get consistent with it. It was more the indian then the arrow. When I would catch it solid it went forever, the stock shaft is pretty good. 4 stars

i just went from my custom titleist to this driver and i love how it hits. i told myself i would never fall for the oversized heads that are as large as this one, but it sets up traditionally in my opinion, so it helped me shake off the asthetic side. Im about to get an aldila shaft for the driver cause i have a high launch angle with it and would like a lower trajectory. Also first graphite shafted driver ive ever hit...im old school haha

This thing is a launcher! I've hit all the new drivers out in the last year, and this thing is long and straight. A lot of it probably is the shaft and loft combination, but apparently, I've finally found THE DRIVER.

I've played, owned or hit alot of the top drivers over the last couple of years - TM r7 Superquad, Burner; Ping G5; Cleveland Hi-Bore XL; Tour Edge Exotics; Nickent 3DX Square; Nike 5000 and 5900; Callaway FT-i; Titleist 905R. Probably a few others I've forgotten by now. The Superquad is in my bag and always outperformed all others.

I travel alot and decided to build a cheap "travel bag" so I picked up a used TM r7 460 9.5 Deg in the local Golf USA for $70. The club has a Graffaloy Prolaunch Blue S65, pured shaft, and a new Winn PCI grip.

I hit the club in the stock draw setup (14 gms on heel, 2 gms on toe) on the launch monitor and was getting great numbers (for my 95-100 swing speed). 12 degree launch, 150-160 mph ball speed, 3200 spin rate, 250+ carry with lots of rollout to 270+. Yeah, OK those are launch monitor numbers. But for $70 and what I was looking to do with a cheap travel bag, I snatched it up as a no-brainer.

I've played 4 rounds with the club now, and it blows away all the drivers I've ever tried, including my beloved SuperQuad. The ball flight has been dead straight to just the slightest fade (result of my standard swing). I haven't hit a true slice with the club yet, after at least 500 swings at the range and in play. The trajectory is much lower than the Superquad, the total distance is at least 20 yds farther, mostly because of the lower trajectory leading to lots more roll. I hit 12 of 14 fairways on 2 of the 4 rounds (really). I can't say enough good things about how accurate, solid and consistent the r7 460 has been for me. I found the Holy Grail. And all for $70......

I know the shaft has alot to do with the results, so I also give lots of credit to this shaft/head combo. I figured the Graffaloy would launch the ball high, definitely higher than my Superquad with the REAX stock shaft. It doesn't. Go figure. I've never played a Graffaloy before (mostly Aldila and Fujikura), but I will be looking at those shafts for other clubs in the future. I think the lower torque (2.8 vs. mid 3's in lots of other 65 gm shafts) has alot to do with why this shaft is working so good for me.

Love this club. Finally found something along the lines of my trusty R540XD w/ Graffalloy Prolite shaft that I foolishly got rid of.

Crazy straight w/ the V2 shaft.

It feels like a really well made driver, I had a Cleveland launcher that sounded the best of any driver I hit to this day but the face was a degree open. I got the draw model with the 2 degree closed, this really helps my ball flight, it wont fix a slice, trust me, but It can still be a well played driver for a higher handicap. The driver itself feels like its made REALLY well, Ive tried about 5 drivers before I chose this and a lot sound or feel like cheap tin.

anybody ever hit a TM R7 Draw driver. I've been hitting a Cleveland Hi-Bore with a stiff V2 shaft. I hit it straight but not very far. I picked up the R7 draw today. I'm not a slicer but I don't ever draw the ball. Any reviews on this thing?
