I hear you.  It's raining cats and dogs here.  I'd say my all time favorite is Happy Gilmore.  I just saw Tin Cup for the first time last week, so that's up there on the list, b/c it's new to me.

Caddyshack! Of Course... Tin Cup is a good one. Gentleman's game mentioned above is Excellent!

But I also like Legend of Bagger Vance because I adore Charlize Theron :russian_roulette:...my definition of sexy. (and all natural!)

Happy Gilmore not golf?  that's the movie that inspired me to pick up golf!  I quit hockey 4 years ago due to back pain, then started playing golf 3 years ago (at 46 yrs old). I even hit a "Happy" drive once a round or so.  I'm even getting pretty good at hitting "Happy" shots w/ my irons off the fairway.  You just have to stare that ball down while you approach it.

Hot here too (near the coast south of SLO, CA) --- 110 today. I've never even seen it reach 100 here before.

Sorry nothing about that movie had a thing to do with fact including how he got on the tour  manythings in between and then the whole wrap up thing with   the tower falling on the green and his playing goofy golf on it.

I am thrilled you took up the game but that had nothing to do with the game I love.

has anyone by any chance read the book? my friend read it and told me that the movie is NOTHING like the book.  charlize's character isn't even in it, and some of the bagger vance "visions" are almost acid trippish...

SLO, huh? how are the golf courses up there? my buddy goes to cal poly, he's down home here in ventura for the summer.  i went to one of the golf courses there a long time ago when i first picked up a club and just hit balls at the range.  forget what it was called, but it looked really fun.

Ken! didnt know you were such a Hogan fan, LOL!  Follow the Sun was a pretty decent movie though, if not a little cheesy, I am really glad they used actual footage of Hogan swinging and not Glen Ford, that would have been painful.

Dead Solid Perfect is one of the funniest books I have ever read golf or non golf, the movie is OK the book will have you LYAO and you will find it almost impossible to put down.  Dan Jenkins is one of the funniest writers in world history, if you dont mind a little profanity.  As for the movie, not bad kinda a cult classic for golf nuts, but as always the book is better.  IMO

I think most golf movies and sports movies in general are hard to pull off, that is why Caddy Shack is so great, it doesnt really focus on golf and it is funny as hell, in fact I would say that Caddy Shack is one of the top 5 all time greatest comedys of any genre.  Tin Cup was decent but turned into a series of cameos for Gary MCCord etc.  I think they tried too hard on the tour player connection and they should have just left the acting to the actors.  And Rene Russo is pretty sexy in the movie to boot!

I could not agree more with you about Happy Gilmore, one of the worst movies ever, when people watch that movie and then go to the golf course and start making Happy Gilmore references etc. and hocky swings I just cringe, to me the movie was very disrespectul the the game of golf and it's traditions as well and shedding the traditions of the game in a bad way.  I really wish that movie would go away.  Adam Sandler is sssooooo annoying.  JMO

sorry fellows Caddy shack rates up there for me with Happy Gilmore

Just not a big fan of slap stick  and again neither of these movies are realistic when it comes to golf or things that go on around golf

but if you like slapstick

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis made a  movie called the Caddy that was pretty much in the same category

but it was at least cute

The only good part of Happy Gilmore was the character that Ben Stiller played. Sweatshoppin' all the old folks for landscapin' duty and quilting sales. :russian_roulette:
