I'm not quite sure what's going on here.
I've seen these irons and drivers (747 series) referred to as 2018 models. So "pre-order" ??? Never saw them last year. I did see the 737 series of woods and irons at Edwin Watts last year but those are clearly different clubs.
Only first saw the Honma 747 driver in the demo rack about 3-4 weeks ago and the 2 iron sets on the sales rack since. The drivers are as good as anything else this year; at least that I've tried (haven't tried TM yet). The "blade type player's CB" forged iron is a bit unforgiving. The CB is pretty forgiving but with a 28.5* 7 iron and I'm not prepared to go that far yet.
I'm sure somebody knows the real story. Hope they post it.
The 747 line was released in Japan last year, in early November IIRC. I saw the demo wedges, woods, and hybrids in the local golf shop back then.
However, the blade was not released then. I am guessing they were holding off until Rose was signed and they were ready to release blades with his name on them.
Incidentally, the backs of the wedges look a lot like the backs of these blades; Rose's Honma wedges are something completely different.
