Tweaked iron swing might have fixed issues

Narrowed stance and really concentrated on creating width/size in the backswing. Finally striking irons decently again.
Background - it's been a rough 6 months. Shanks led to fats which persisted awhile.
Began as an attempt to stop an inside takeaway, even though the shot at the time was still decent.
Don't know what link in the chain this fixed, but I'm coiling better with the narrower stance, and attacking much more from the inside on the way down.
Does this sound like a common fault and fix?
