Hi,

Does anyone know how long the boys 10 are hitting off the tees at major tournaments? They are obviously long hitters but last year world’s was exceptional. Wondering if anyone here observed the top players.

At 10, I would say 200-210 total and you are on the longer side.  There will be a couple of exceptions that can poke it 220-230, but they may be the size of a 12-year old.

Thatís pretty fair. Although the longer boys are 240-250

This is like saying CWebb could dunk in 6th grade.

He is an exception. I knew he was hitting longer but 250 really? Good for him.

Dunham was hitting it closer to 270. Thatís why I said 240-250 for the longer ones.

My kid is much smaller than average but hit it about average length. Around 200Ėwhich was plenty long to score (but not to win).

Not sure what your question is.

Heís an anomaly.  Heís 5í6Ē and weighs 150.
(this is how he is listed on the Florida tour).  A big ten year old is like 5í1Ē and 100 pounds.  And that would be 90th+ percentile.  For people that donít know him at all you canít just say a 10-year old hits it 250.  270 measured would be truly impressive and newsworthy.  Thatís why I said itís like saying Chris Webber was dunking in 6/7th grade but he was like 6í4Ē.

No - I think thereís a huge drop off between Dunham and number 2.  Not just 10 yards.  More like 20+ yards.  And 270 at sea level would be out of control, even at his size at that age.

My son is in an age group below, but I know one of the kids (well) thatís been competing with him for years and always finished in the top 3-5 at worlds with Dunham.  He is and always considered one of the longest in his age group  - but like 220-230 long at age 10.  And he was like 5í tall and 95-100 pounds.

Maybe a question that could be its own topic but are boys that hit puberty early at an advantage in the long term?

Id agree with this.  We play with a few very good 10 yr old and find the above yardages to be accurate.

It's not just that he's talented, he works hard at golf and is a multi sport athlete.  Lots of talented kids out there but not many that have the resources and put in the time he does.

Pretty sure I said heís 20-30 longer than the long ones. And Iím pretty sure I know the other kid youíre referencing and weíve played with him too. Heís 40ish yards longer than my son who is ďaverageĒ for his age

Dunham is also home schooled. He practices during the morning and early afternoon and does his school work in the evenings.

I'll never understand homeschooling kids over sports. I would hope it's not just about golf.

In 90% of cases, it IS about the sports. And itís really to the detriment of a personís well being overall. But, to each their own.
