I'm not a moderator on here mate but it was closed because it was getting out of hand.

Having a discussion and sharing opinions on something is one thing. Making derogatory comments about different countries and cultures is another.

There were a couple of recent threads started by the creators of GolfWRX about negativity on the site. The general consensus was that as the number of members grows, there's bound to be some negativity from time to time. Having said that, some of the worst posts I saw on that thread were from experienced members who should know better.

There was nothing wrong with the thread that you started. This site has members from all over the world and it's always interesting to hear how people view things differently. However, having read your original post, the only piece of advice I'd give is to stay away from making negative comments. There's nothing wrong with opening a thread for discussion. There's a lot wrong with calling people name's when they don't share your views on something.

Let's leave it at that mate and continue to enjoy this great site for what it is :friends:

Yuppers. I was the one who closed it, and was going to let it stand at that as I thought the "why?" was pretty obvious. :beruo:

Except for a few posts which tried to stand out as reasonable, it was largely comprised of little more than nationalistic grandstanding, with some of the most close-minded opinions I've ever seen voiced on this site. The unapologetic stereotyping being passed off as intellectualism, anecdotal citations and "common sense" used to support arguments, and the GETINTHEHOLE-esque posts by lahinchnsnglmalt (who deserves a special note for standing out in that train wreck) are not in keeping with the spirit of this board.

And for future reference, wait until you've lurked around a while before getting up on your soapbox to rant, marker. Know what does and doesn't work when joining in a new community. And not for nothing, the goofy "look it up" plebian/philistine redundancy...classic. :good:
