...swing a baseball bat?

If yes, why does his golf swing look worse than a rusty lawn chair being dragged by a dog across a yard full of bear traps?

He can swing a golf club too. Just not if theirs a ball in the way. He has a very serious case of the yips.
Walter: Tell me Bobby, why do you play this game?
Bobby: I play because I love it.
Walter: Well I play for the money. I have to win. That is why every time we face each other I will always beat you.

Chuck can most certainly swing a golf club. Back in his NBA days, he used to be a single digit handicap IIRC. I've heard that his swing got to be the way it is after he hit someone on the course with a golf ball.

I played with him 25 years ago.  His swing was fine.  Good player too.

I've seen him hit range balls up at Tahoe and look "not horrible".  Totally different a few minutes later on the course.

Interesting.

When I see him swing I genuinely feel bad for him.  You can tell there is something going on between the ears.  I firmly believe you can't be an athlete and not have a serviceable golf swing.  May not be repeatable or get you to single digit cap but you can look like you have swung a club before.

Doesn’t he sometimes hit balls in the range minus the yip too?   Said it was fear of hitting someone that started this I believe.  Now it’s anytime on course.

So, we have a few teachers on here.  Probably not checking my low intellect threads but if they are, how would you work with him to get through this?

I think I'd have him hit those foam practice balls.  Or do a bunch of indoor/net training to let him gain confidence that he has a swing that goes straight and he doesn't have to worry with spraying it into people.

Mad props to the guy for continuing to play.

Remember the fictional movie Space Jam? Charles was in that movie and lost his talent because aliens took it. I have it on good authority that the same thing happened to him in real life except with golf.

Unfortunately, this is what can happen when the wrong person takes too many lessons and trys to change their natural swing instincts.

He would have been better off, had he never taken a lesson in his life
