Can Steve Williams caddie for someone else? ...while Tiger is out

I am sure he could....but why would he even contemplate that?
Bad move if he did, IMO...unless he was helping out someone as a request by his current employer.

Stevie will also spend a lot more time with his racing business in New Zealand.
Me think that Stevie would very much welcome this break from totting Tiger's bag and will rest to be ready for a grueling 2009 campaign.

As for the OP, if TW agrees, then of course Stevie can caddy for someone else, but for the reasons above, why would he? It's not like he needs the experience.
On a related note, one thing I would like to see Stevie do is maybe get a few weeks in the booth for the golf telecast. Let's hear some commentary from the caddy perspective instead of always hearing from the former player.

Yep, Steve Williams is the highest paid person in any profession from Australia, which is incredible when you consider that Australia has a population of almost 200,000 now.
Even our Emperor doesn't make as much as Steve Williams...

First of all, Stevie is from New Zealand and not Australia.
His big other insterest, aside from totting Tiger's bag, is Saloon Racing (basically the British version of stock car racing). Check all this out on Stevie's official web site http://www.kiwicaddy.com/

Williams also done for the year after Tiger's gutsy win
Says he will miss his first major in 30 years with the upcoming British Open (sorry, Open Championship!) next month. An impressive streak.

Good on yah jzat!
Yes Steve is from NZ and is the richest sportsman.
Ironic as he doesn't play a sport.
I doubt he will caddy for anyone other than Tiger and who can blame him.

Ahhh man, who will I put the stopwatch on to see how fast he takes his caddy bib off at the 18th green?

Michael Campbell is now in fourth although he was the highest paid in the 6 months/year following his U.S Open win.
As for the original question. Even if Stevie could caddy for someone else while Tiger's injured, I doubt he would. May as well take the well earned rest now before the 'push for 19 Majors' starts again next year.

Remember that Stevie also has his own endorsement deal with Valvoline and I believe he gets some money from Nike each year as well.
His career earnings (including his time with Ray Floyd and Greg Norman) are estimated to be over $20m.

Its a big one though as it's Golfer of the Year Medal number 7 and the prize fund may hit £200.
Sadly its pro shop vouchers and not cold hard cash if I win...
Make sure he keeps his cap on Paul.
And put double knots on his bib so he can't whip it off a couple of nanoseconds after you hole out on #18.
For the win mate, hopefully.

That is correct. Ryan Nelsen is the highest paid athlete/sportsman from NZ. He's also a Stanford alum, so technically, all of NZ owes Stanford some donations.

If he was working solely off of a percentage I think he might look for a temporary loop. No matter what your tax bracket you live according to a certain expected salary. Why would Valvoline pay him for his shirt logo if he isn't on TV?

From what I understand (from hearing from people who knows this business), Stevie gets 10% of Tiger's earnings on the course, and that would put him at around US$1M a year. Not too bad for toting a bag and giving advices to the boss.
But seriously, Tiger and Stevie do form a real TEAM. On Monday, Stevie called off Tiger as he was ready to hit a 7 iron (forgot on which hole) and persuaded Tiger to change to a 8 iron (Johnny Miller even commented that it takes guts to call off a player as he was prepared to swing). Tiger subsequently nailed his shot and he looked at Stevie, smiled broadly and nodded in approval. Now, THAT is what I call TEAMWORK!
I would be willing to bet that Stevie will never tote another player's bag - how can you top caddying for the number one player in the world, and arguably the best player of all times?

He only plays 16 to 20 weeks a year, he shouldn't be to tired.

Stevie and Tiger are VERY good friends as well. Tiger has raced one of Stevie's cars, he has bungy jumped and based jumped with Stevie and they DO hang out alot with both there families. Remember Tiger trains ALOT but he only averages 17 tournaments a year. So he does spend time with his buddy Stevie, the nice thing is he can go visit him in New Zealand and get around alot better than he ever could here in the states with the poparatzee following him wherever he went.

How much would you pay to have Stevie on your bag?
.
..
...Would be awkward if Phil got the highest bid.
If Tiger was a different sort of guy, I might wonder how much he would pay Stevie to misclub him at critical times...
