There shouldn't be any stereotypes of people who are members of X or Y club, your experience is yours.  There are jerks everywhere, but IME the vast majority of members at elite clubs are good people that I would happily call friends. Wealthy individuals are people, people aren't perfect so let's just all take a breath and be thankful that all those imperfections we have ourselves are hidden while posting here.

Enough with the anecdotal stories of Rich Guy is a jerk.

One of the most interesting new golf courses is Bayonne Golf Club on the New Jersey side of New York harbor. This posh outlet - open in 2014 - was shaped out of a landfill built up by the developer's harbor-dredging gig. Some 7 million tons of silt were piled up to lay the foundation for the linksland layout.

Supposedly the initiation fee ran about $500,000 when the club first opened.

Sorry, but I have no idea what the one-pound sirloin burger costs in the men's snack bar. But, you get fries with it!

As for Rich Guys being Jerks, a theme of country club staffers is that the near-rich are the jerks. Often, the near-rich who nose their way into superclub find they have trouble making the monthly dues, funding their home mortgage, and $30K a year for each kid's prep school. The reason some CC people are jerks is because they're miserable from trying to live beyond their finances.
